  1. Im going to take mine to a local garage who has a press and get them to pop them in, easy job with the the right gear..
  2. One of the best Corrados ever, good that it lives on in various places but a shame to see it split.. I hope you get the VW bug again, i somehow cant imagine you developing a sensible car..
  3. Agreed but that bottom bolt took all 10 stone of my weight to undo... :D
  4. Happy with that Dave, ill give it a shot when i get the beam back..
  5. How easy was it to get the metal sleeves out Dave? I left mine in for the powder coating so it wouldnt make the hole any smaller.. Is it easy done??
  6. Good to see the old girl today Tom.. Sack the VR off, spend the money on the Valver = 2.0 turbo... :)
  7. Some sterling work going on there, your a brave man for going at what i regard (and others) to be one of the nicest VRs over the last few years.. I wish i could paint, it just looks expensive and id love to have the front end redone as you are on with.. Look forward to seeing the end results..
  8. Gutted for you mate, hope the insurance man will stay away and you can fix her back up...
  9. Never.. Gutted for you both, that awful...
  10. Marting, the Storm Grey one looks gorgeous, i cant believe you let it go tbh... Blue ones look good and is the one i hold responsible for finaly after 10 years of wanting a Corrado made me take the plunge... As for that Jetta, well, cracking daily...
  11. There are more than a few bits that im not happy with on mine, i suppose its the trap of the better you make it the more fussy you get... The front suspension will be getting the same treatment in a couple of months and then ill be happy with the underneath of the car..
  12. Definitely suits the RCs,they could look great with a bit of TLC... I know there is loads you want to do to this car and im sure youll get there with time... I woudnt worry about 'what you could have bought', just focus on what you can make it into and enjoy...
  13. Agreed, im fairly sure Shaun doenst really need to do this to his...
  14. Im going to try and change most things really so ive got (or am waiting for) 2 bushes. new carrier bolts x4. 2 short solid brake lines that are on the beam. Braded hoses for calipers and on the beam (4). New compensator bolts (these are guaranteed to be a pain). I think thats the lot, most of the other things, wheel bearings etc are fairly new so am going to re use. Im getting the beam and the dust shields powder coated while its all of which will probably take a couple of days..
  15. Bet you are looking forward to getting the car out again Rob, sounds like youve got it all under control..
  16. Cheers guys, its not the hardest job really, im just taking my time, im goverened by daylight though as the light in my garage isnt the best.. Successfully got the compensator and bushes out tonight and they were definitely past it, they take a few good whacks with a big hammer to drop but its not too bad.. Yes Fay, i did make a cheeky purchase today of a Magnex system so that will be going on very shortly....
  17. Heres a couple of pics of the rear beam now its off. Still need to remove the compensator and the bushes which ill be doing tonight. Beam is in decent shape, just a bit of surface rust which is to be expected. Itll be going off for a shot blast and a powdercoat and hope to have it back next week. Ill build it back up then with braided hoses and Mk4s and then itll be going back on..
  18. Well predictions were correcnt, compensator allen bolt crumbled so ill have to drill that out tomorrow. Replacements will be getting ordered up.. Other than that its all stripped down ready to go off to be coated along with the dust shield. Gonna be getting fitted with goodridge flexis and some nice shiney Mk4 calipers, happy days...
  19. Anyone got a suggested supplier for a magnex cat back system , best price and the same for the supersprint equivalent please?
  20. No tax yet though Jon, using the rest of the month to finish the jobs.. Progress update, rear beam is off the car and will be getting stripped down tonight ready to go to the powdercoaters.. Pics will be coming... Think i might buy an exhaust today, mine doesnt look very shiney underneath... :)
  21. Ive taken the allen stud out and still no movement... Sounds like a bit more persuasion is needed.. Dom, do you mean the compensator will be broken or the bolts that secure it?
  22. Am hoping to be at RR day in April with the Corrado, fingers crossed ill have done all the bushes by then but if not i may take you up on that offer...
  23. Nice one mate, quite keen to do the front end in the very near future once the rear end is all sorted.. Keen to hear how you find the car once its all done..
  24. Glad you like it mate and a big thankyou for pointing me in the right direction for the MOT... Ive got no doubt it wont take long for you to upgrade.. :)
