  2. Nice combination the VR in a mk2 shell. The Mk2 is a nice base for all sorts really.
  3. as above if the gaskets and seals have not been changed recently then change them. If they are that old they will fall apart when you dismantle anyway and you will have to replace them.
  4. Short answer is no,but maybe just change your inlet manifold and rocker cover gaskets and the little timing chain. As far as timing the engine it's the same procedure.All the same timing masks apply.

    maybe but if it is whistling I rekon it's the bleed screw which has popped out from the back of the throttle body.

    was a squeak or more of a whistle noise? Is the throttle bleed screw on the back of the throttle body still there? Is the bottom crank pulley on securely? Check all your boost hoses.

Nah don't recognize that user name from the MS forum although the memory is not what it should be. :lol: So picking up some great skills? I like the pic of the aircon.Much needed lol. Did it take you long to get use to the crickets churping away at night when your trying to get to sleep?

And everything in between for that matter.Then shout with any questions. It will be interesting to see how you get on.Good luck. Not sure there is much in that thread on eatons though.have a hunt around on vortex. Have you any thoughts about mounting it? What's your budget?

  19. With the price of forged jobbies from the US you may as well build as strong an engine as you can afford. The VR rad is a good upgrade as the VRT boys se their standard rad with no probs. You will just have to re-route your water pipes if you are starting from a valver.
  20. Just piping airbox to intercooler. And you need to block off the oil line feed too .
  21. yeah. Its a "Can it be done ?" type project. I like the idea of something different.An engineering challenge. I have always fancied an Audi s2 engine in mine but I rekon you'd struggle to fit it transversely. Saying that though a longitudinal 5 pot might present different problems than the V8... i'm waffling. Anyway fair play for even daring to think about this project,never mind put it into practice.
