vw/audi blocks are pretty strong. is it using oil/smoking? Does it pull well? maybe do a compression test to see how it is holding up?!! If it aint broke don't fix it. :) Just get the charger serviced if you feel like parting with your money.

No,different engine makeup mate. It wouldn't last long at all. Is your engine unwell?
  5. Indeed.I do feel somewhat torn in that respect already. Both cars need road tax and the MOT guy made a muttering about a wheel bearing. And it begins...
  6. Now have MOT. Hoping to have running for the weekend.
  7. Drove free willie to the MOT centre. First time I have driven a corrado since November 2008. Felt nippy, but I have been driving a 2.0 8v golf with bad clucth since then,so it would. So awaiting the verdict. Always fun. :|
  8. did you do a leak down test? I thought you did..?!?
  9. wrongest post evah!! No good ever comes from these g60 vs VR posts. :) I think it comes down to some people prefer the image of one to the other for various reasons. I like the g60's idiosyncrasies. I guess some just see it as just a time bomb waiting to explode. Its the VR's unkempt younger brother. Your either a g60 person or your not. :)
  10. Ok,playing devils advocate here. There is a thread over on edition38 with the same title if you're a member?!?? It is very pro vr6 so if you are leaning towards a vr you could try that one,as it raises all the points that they believe the VR has over the g60. They talk about the vr being the more refined package, more power out the box and the noise from the v6 engine... etc.
  11. Hi. VR is not my thing but I think this one comes up quite often so it is worth using the search. I think i've seen it a few times anyway.
  12. double check all your vacuum lines.Sounds like one is open to atmosphere.
  13. alot of pride taken in this car I can tell. :salute: Good power too. No pics from todays exploits then?
  14. Very nice. I'll need to find a little extra room but i think that is a better setup than just mounting the fan flat on the rad. Cheers JMc.
  15. just leaves the coil really from your list above..
  16. Hi Jon. It really isn't that hard to wire up MS to an old car like this.It has quite simple electronics and you can just make use of things that are already there.Just a bit of a pain removing break servo etc to run in the wires. In terms of splicing into the stock loom you just need to get access switched 12 volts and then the fuel pump. Yeah the black radiator in the stock intercooler position is my mocal. You can just make out my pro-alloy fmic infront of the radiator.Same one Yan has on his car I believe. :) Can't wait for the thing to become a car again, and not just an expensive garage sculpture.
  17. who has mounted a 11" spal on their original fan cowling? Any pics out there? cheers.
  18. congrats mate. glad you found one.
  19. Good luck. Will keep an eye out for shiney go faster stuff.
  20. all the above(poor quality I admit) pictures were taken with the engine in the same position i.e TDC. This will give you straight up factory cam timing in relation to the bottom end. hth.
  21. Just going by the figures in the bentley manual against compression checking the PG manual. When I compression checked my old PG engine I got 11 bar cept on cylinder 1 which was down at 8 bar. :gag: I don't think low compression is related to his pinking anyway tbh,but I definately don't think it is high.
  22. It was nice that you were so gracious about it.Glad it worked out for you. :thumbleft: Cheers :-) I'll keep my eyes peeled round reading for it (and you) as I work in this lovely town and live in Basingstoke. Nick Cool will keep my eyes peeled.. although i'm rarely around Reading in the day. What part of Reading do you work in then?
