  1. Excellent update! Really pleased its looking up for you! good luck :D
  2. Ive not noticed this thread before but having now read through it in full i think we, as in the majority of us who use this forum, are blessed to have such kind & thoughtful members here!! Lots of support, friendly sharing of experiences & a general understanding that everyone is different & that we all have our good times & bad. Portent, its great that you are striving - & succeeding it seems - in making a happier life for yourself & your family! I shared a similar experience with my old job last year & in the end i made the decision that i could pay my mortgage for 3-6 months & i quit. Fortunately i managed to find a new job by the end of the summer & it has made for a much happier me. Change is scary, change is tough but change can be good but as many of us said.....happiness is key in life :D
  3. Thanks for your input Jim! i will certainly give them a go once ive taken the current wheels off :)
  4. good work Byrd! did you use a glue thinner to remove the old stuff? im planning on attempting this job in the next few weeks hopefully
  5. I agree m8, i only replied to the post as i had spoken with the place & the confirmed the price was £20 per wheel. however, the finish may well reflect that lol
  6. Good point well made Jim & there are places that will do for less than that. If your in the midlands there is http://www.citypowdercoating.co.uk/ who say they will do for £20 per wheel. Ive no experience of them but for £80 for a set of 4 im considering giving them a go for the set of speedlines i take off
  7. bloody hell borarob its hard to believe they were done with hammerite, they look lovely in the photo! ive hand prep'd & etch primer'd my other set of speedlines & my uncle is going to be spraying them in black cellulose paint - lots of layers of paint & lots of rubbing to get the depth & shine....hopefully
  8. Welcome! Keep looking until you find the really good 1 you want, they are out there :)
  9. there is a post on this forum about silicone grease designed for sunroof mechanisms. apparently the silicone stuff does not collect the dirt & bits & clog up. IIRC kevin bacon had a sunroof which would not slide but once he had cleaned & greased with the correct stuff it worked fine. i purchased some & received it a couple of weeks ago but havent had time to clean & apply this new stuff yet found the post.......try this http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=81534&highlight=sunroof+grease hope it helps or comes in useful :)
  10. Personally i have used infinty kappa range speakers in my cars for over 15 years & find their quality of audio & range to be superb. It is quite a basic setup of sony head unit [4*52w RMS], a pair of kappa 693i 6*9's & a pair of the 5.25" kappa's for the door pods......simples :D
  11. Well would you believe it......i work literally around the corner from Da Corrado! I had always thought it would be a good place to get a nice pic of the rado outside of the building & get their signage in the pic :D lol I also know of a very good & very nice cider house just down the road from there which has a garden alongside the canal - the bluebell makes for a picturesque pint of scrumpy on a sunny day I will check out if can make the 18th as southam is not too far away & has a plethora of nice drive options to get there & back
  12. Morning VAGhag - did you see my interest in the parcel shelf? Id put it in my email about the other items i've had ;) thanks
  13. Ha ha ha good work Andi!! Im viewing in 1920*1080 & it looks great overall but the blue which is used for forum user names & the thread titles feels a bit harsh on the eyes.
  14. me also sean - tho im not sure it is due to my bleary morning eyes lol loving the response of searches now tho.....its all speedy gonzales!! :D
  15. Arrrghhhh my retena's are struggling with all this new blue lol
  16. i think it was the hosting site page endeegee - as the site was down from some point in the afternoon ;)
  17. Ooo might be worth me calling my local stealer if sensors are that kind of price. thanks for the heads up about the o ring! im not sure if i need to change my mounts......it was an 'opportunistic time' kind of thought trail......is there an easy way to check other than visually
  18. Hi Jon_vr6 / Cazza Im not sure if this helps but i had a set of 4 speedlines picked up from somerset & shipped to me near birmingham using interparcel.com. I found the receipt for you..... Date Booked: 23/03/2010 No of Packages: 4 Total Weight: 64.0 Kg Contents: alloy wheels Service: TNT UK Express Price: £ 26.18 Transit Cover: £ 2.00 VAT: £ 4.93 Total: £ 33.11 The service was excellent. hope that helps :)
  19. Appreciate your help redborbet, thank you. can you recall how much the blue temp sensor was from the stealer? Ive not heard of the 'jay renshaw poly mounts' you refer to........were they a group buy or something or are they highly recommended?
  20. good point, Im not sure davidwort. it is for the reason you mention, IE pattern parts potentially being inferior, that i asked the question about recommended manufacturers as i know there is a wealth of experience regarding such on here
  21. Thanks guys. I think i should have thought more about my original post.......ive spoke to vince a few times & yes he has no qualms with me supplying some of the parts & he also agreed & recommended replacing several parts that they will have to take off as part of the work. I want to leave the supply of 'critical' parts to vince as he has the expertise there but i thought for sensors & mounts etc i could potentially make a big saving by sourcing through work. An example of such would be my colleague was quoted approx £150 for a cv part from VW, & they wanted the original in return, but through work he sourced the same part for about £25 delivered & no exchange basis. thus i thought it has to be worth investigating as the bill is going to be whopper anyway I had also suggested to vince about replacing the primary water pump & again he agreed it would be sensible. If anyone can help me with part numbers for the temp sensors, engine & gearbox mounts & primary water pump i would be grateful :)
  22. good point Dox & i agree in theory - this is why i was only really thinking of getting the cooling sensors / hoses myself & possibly mounts - chains/tensioners, valves etc etc will be sourced by stealth my apologies if this did not come across in my post
  23. Hi all I am currently preparing to send my VR6 into Stealth for a top end rebuild & some opportunistic improvements, it is at around the 145K miles at present. I work with a partner company of ‘The UK Parts Alliance’ & am hoping to source some of the parts I need through work as it should help with cost saving. With all the expertise & knowledge on here I would really appreciate your help & advice regarding part numbers & preferred part manufacturers & any additional work ive not thought of but would be timely to carry out.. I am planning on asking Stealth to carry out the following: Rebuild the top end - as I have a small amount of smoking after the 1st start up of the day & thus believe my valve stem seals to be in need of replacing Change the chains & tensioner – as I think they are still the original Drop some 263 cams in Fit a BMC CDA New clutch Remap ECU accordingly I am also thinking it would be a pertinent time to renew any tired or worn parts that are related to the above work……..EG I am thinking of: A full set of roose motorsport coolant system hoses Change all of the coolant system sensors - I think there are 3 Fit new thermostat housing & seals New rocker cover gasket Possibly new expansion tank or seal – as though it was from VW & fitted when I changed the radiator 2 years ago the bugger leaks a little My main quandary at the moment is trying to think if there are any other parts it would make sense to renew whilst the above work is being carried out & I was hoping you kind people could help? For example: I am unsure if it might be a good time to change the engine & gearbox mounts? Would it be a good idea to fit some magnecor ignition leads? Are there any other sensors or parts I should change whilst things are apart? I already have the thermostat housing & seals & the rocker cover gasket but would appreciate it if anyone can help with part numbers for the remaining parts. Also, I know there are mixed views on the differing manufacturers of parts & would welcome any feedback on which would be preferable for the various parts. Thanks in advance for any help or advice :D PS I am also thinking of replacing my tired exhaust system from downpipe back & am currently considering vortex, longlife & powerflow – thoughts anyone?
