  1. I would be very suspect of the injectors, mine was hard to start when cold, but fine once warm. The injectors were leaking, I only found this out once i replaced them. Now the other problem I encountered was, i had adjusted the fuel/air ratio level fuel mixture. Now I got it set up at the MOT. The car was pinking all over the place after the M.O.T, I was looking at everything testing, replacing parts. Anyway I gave up took it to a specialist and found out the car was running far to lean. You could try pulling an injector out and check their condition, as soon as I pulled one out I knew straight away they were past their best just by looking at one. But if the previous owner has been tinkering around, then I would be suspect of the fuel/air ratio it may have been adjusted to try and compensate for the running of the car.
  2. yeah I dont mean to be negative, but the economy of Spain would put me right off. I would rent.
  3. If you dont have the time then I would take the money the insurance are giving you, breaking a car and selling the bits will take you time, plus it will be getting scrapped by the insurance company. If things went missing on it, then I am sure they would never notice : ) Spare engine sensors? Interior trims?
  4. Nice work ! Plus your pretty good with a camera some real nice shots there Any future plans? its nice to see a 16v get such attention
  5. Ahhhh keep the updates coming these Looking good!
  6. If the power steering pumps bearings are past it then it could be giving the belt a hard time
  7. I would go with injectors, i had this problem. I never thought it would have been the injectors until I replaced them and yeah they were well past there best.
  8. I know of a building business lent one of the workers 6k as his mother was in tough times with her mortgage so they lent him the 6K and the agreement was made in paper that he would pay so much back every month before his wages went to him. So he got the money, packed up and left. I know they think they will never see the money again. As even if they could prosecute him, then there is no guaranteeing he would have the money anymore. He is out of a job and the 6K prob cover him for so many months before he is skint. Does the chap not work with you still? Pop round to his house for a little chat?
  9. If the vacumn hoses look tired, then they probably never have been changed since new, so I would change all of them first. As its not a big job nor expensive. From there try changing the fuel filter as it could be starving the fueling system. It could be a fuel pump. There is a lift pump in the tank, and there is also the inline pump. If you are changing the one in the tank and need the car the same day, I would suggest getting another sender unit for the tank , change the pump on it then fit it to the car on another day. Changing the lift pump requires time. As the connection from the fueling system to the pump is an awkward connection. Also there are tests to check various other components like fuel pressure, WUR. These can be found by using the search on this forum. On the KR the fuel mixture can be adjusted but, I would refrain from adjusting it unless you know what your doing. Another would be if the KR injectors are the original then they will be far past there prime, this not a cheap option. the KR is a bit fiddly to get right, if all else fails take it either to a garage who knows what there doing or to someone who has the knowledge. Good luck!
  10. The uprated headlight looms, ahhhhhhh the problems, the thing is there arent any relays in the engine bay and thats for a reason, if you open a relay up and how small the contacts are, so any moisture that gets into them and ruins the relay. They should be in a sealed container, or in the cabin of the car.
  11. Its a good place to start by replacing the injectors, as when you take them out you will see by just llokign at them they will be far past it.
  12. It could be your warm up regulator, WUR if its broken then the engine could be trying to stay in warm up mode which would mean richer fuel. Its just an idea, other than that if the cold start injector is staying open.
  13. What price are you wanting for the central locking pump?
  14. It depends if the head gaset could be gone but allowing oil into the water, but around the chambers could still be sealed. I would think it could be to do with your oil cooler, that would be easier to replace and see if it solves it.
  15. Hey do you still have the central locking pump?
  16. Hey Dave, could I get a driver door and passenger door kit. Thanks, Calum
  17. If the vacuum pipes look old then I would advise changing them, I changed all of mine recently and it curred my low idle problems. My pipes looked okay, but its the age of them they were well past it.
  18. There is also a switch forthe brake pedal, when you apply the brakes make sure the switch is being pressed. This activates your brake lights
  19. Did this sort of thing not get picked up on the home report? As its an independent survey. It does sounds like you should walk away, its easy to get tunnel vision on a single property. If they are lying about these things then what else are they lying about.
  20. Your water pump may have propellers broken off it, the only way to find that out is to take it out. Also once the pump is out it should be easy to turn by hand, if not then bearings are ruined.
  21. You can get auto electricains that are mobile, if your stuck. The only thing I could think of is your battery is low, electrical systems dont like a low voltage and start to play up.
  22. haahahha I am pretty sure the Peugeot 406 Coupe in its standard form would be worth more in value.
