No not from factory, should be an early bonnet for 1991 so must have been replaced in the past. May or may not be an issue depending on why it was replaced, without really looking at the car that's hard to judge. The bonnet is open in the pics that's why there's a large gap. I'm with you on the gear knob though, not my cup of tea but then two of my Corrados have had aftermarket gearknobs fitted (until I replaced them back to OE), doesn't really mean anything it's just like replacing the steering wheel and down to personal taste.

I've got one but it's not in great condition. A couple of fixing tabs broken and snapped at the side (but crudely repaired). Not sure what condition your current one is like but if you're desperate, I can get a couple of pics tomorrow if you like.
-
Why? Ok it's a KR, but aside from a wing and bit of paint on the front bumper it doesn't look that bad. It's been off the road for a number of years granted and it's not a great ad, but that doesn't mean it's unsalvageable, far from it. Some people want a project and will be happy to pay 2 -2.5k (which is my estimate of it from the pics) for something they can slowly restore. It's not always about end gain, appreciation or the investment, it's about enjoying the hobby and someone will only have a budget that will stretch so far to begin with. It's a decent enough starter for someone and if they swap the Recaros for a set of leather in fair condition, it'll look like a bargain. I've been in ownership long enough to know what can and can't be done with a bit of knowhow and enthusiasm.

More than that I reckon. Set of standard leather on Facebook at the moment for £1200!!!!! 😲

Kunifer is a bit stronger than copper so a good middle ground between copper & steel. You don't necessarily need stainless unions if you get good quality ones, but the cheap electroplated ones don't last 5 minutes. I had a cheap flaring tool that gave mixed results, but borrowed one like this that was really good. https://www.frost.co.uk/3-16in-sae-flaring-tool-set/ I wouldn't bother with a bending tool in all honesty unless you really fork out for one, as the can be bent by using the radius of a socket or something much better and using you original as a template. Mine are all on now and look good everywhere apart from around the ABS pump unfortunately, as it's difficult to get it fitted and weaved in between other things around that area without bending the pipe slightly and deforming it slightly from the original shape. Definitely worth a try and a 25ft roll would provide plenty for a bit of trial and error first if you're only replacing a couple of pipes.

Ok great, did you find the coolant leak or is that your first item on the agenda? If still an issue, how much is it leaking, and can you see any evidence of it dropping anywhere and where is it approximately?

As above, o think your best course of action is to put it through an MOT and it'll give you an idea on cost to recommission it. Factor in a full service as well though. Where are you located? Most consumable items are still available and don't cost the earth, so a friendly local member may be able to help do some of the work you're not comfortable with. Unless bodywork or a full engine strip down is required, it should be achievable to do on your drive. Best of luck with whatever you decide! 👍

Got mine from AVS Spares. Always been perfectly good even if a budget brand. https://www.vwspares.co.uk/VW_Corrado_Brakes-Misc.php?model=2.0 16v

Heads are exactly the same. Only difference is bore size (obviously), inlet manifold, and throttle body if OBD2 from a MK3. The performance gains are mostly in the inlet manifold and management.

Someone on Facebook wanted £75 for a second hand one too. I said about this and also that LHD apparently fit fine, but he wasn't interested and said to go with that then. He's obviously in the habit of pulling people's pants down. I thought throttle cables were long since NLA but glad I checked now, so make sure you do a bit of research on parts availability and cost I'd say.

Just for future reference, I found one from an eBay seller in Latvia. Takes a few weeks to arrive, but I've had a few bits from them recently and they've been top notch. Worked out approx £60 delivered.

I know that feeling well mate. In fairness, most of mine now have a line through them as done/bought, so it's just the 'wants' rather than the 'needs' now.
-
Pffff, paper list. I have 2. Also have a list on my phone, and a white board in the garage! Lol
-
Glad to hear it Jim! Hope you've been keeping well. Last I heard you were feeling a bit of a pull toward getting another!?
-
Coming along nicely! If you've got a couple of those disks spare, I'd love a pair please mate! I reused my old ones but one has fallen off. Where did you get the material from?
-
Yep, gives a great even shine. Just a small amount on kitchen roll and rub over over. 👍

So, I've got a stainless pizza oven for the garden, and there's a FB group and everything! One of the members posted a vid showing a few stainless steel cleaners/restorers side by side on his oven. Anyway, he's into his bikes and apparently it's a well known hack on bike forums to clean exhausts. It's Harpic 10x cleaner! The wife had some in her kitchen cupboard 😉😁 so I thought I'd try it. That was after a quick 20 second blitz with a cap full and a nail brush. Pretty chuffed with the results to be honest! Quick and very cheap way to restore your stainless bits that are long tarnished. Your welcome! 👍

Holy thread revival! Nearly 4 years old mate! Not sure Clumpy frequents here anymore, though you may get a drunken rant calling you a dick for no apparent reason! 😂
-
I'm after a new (or used) throttle cable - must be the hook type for VR6 RHD. Many thanks
-
No they were early and 4 stud only. Have a look at banded sebrings, look amazing with a lip! 👍
-
Absolutely. This is the first time I've seen one for sale in 9 years of ownership - though admittedly, I've not really looked. Even if there were half a dozen in every dealership though, it wouldn't have amounted to many and most were probably destroyed or returned when they went out of service

What 80's - 90s cars for sale have caught your eye recently.

Jammy sod!!!! 👍 -
Mine too! How people use them and keep from getting grubby finger prints on the pages is a mystery to me! Lol

Burning oil gives off a blue tinged smoke mate. You can smell it as well if it's bad. If it's constant White smoke then it could be burning water indicating water/coolant in the system. I've not watched the vid admittedly, but a bit on blipping the throttle from start up is quite normal especially in older cars. Black smoke usually indicates a mixture issue - usually if running too rich so overfuelling. As with all of the above, a little on revving up usually isn't anything to worry about. On over run though as you come off the throttle and revs are dropping or as mentioned if it's constant, that's usually a sign something is wrong.
