  1. On my phone so cant really get you part numbers, but youll need an original oil pump as the r32 one is obviously shorter, and a new gasket. Thats about it provided your sump bolts are not rounded.

  3. Looks like I've sprung a leak. Coming back from Halfrauds to get a couple of fibre glass kits to do a boot build, I noticed steam from the front whisping past the lights. Two minutes from home and oil and water temp was ok, then the low water level light started flashing. :( Can't see where its coming from at the moment, but my guess is the rad. Something else to add to the list! I'd planned on taking it off the road at the end of the month until May, but may have to go a little early now. Booooooooo! :roll:
  4. Yeah there was no book interval to change it. Well worth doing though. I changed mine using MT90 last year.
  5. Can't see the pic on the ad, but I got one from an obd1 Golf VR a couple of weeks ago from the scrappy. I thought it was the same until last weekend when I went to fit it, and the electrical connector at the top is slightly different. They're both two pin so its probably just the plug thats different, but worth knowing.

  8. G12++ or G13 will do fine. Around 6 litres in the system, so 2 x 1.5L bottles of coolant is perfect for a 50:50 mix and good level of anti-freeze down to temps far below what we're likely to see in the UK.
  9. Its worth back flushing with a hose as much as possible too. It'll help rid some of the crud that will have built up over time in waterways. No one ever remembers the heater matrix either, so disconnect the hoses and flush that through too. As mentioned top up slowly, and leave the expansion cap off when you run it up. Massage the hoses to help push any air pockets up and out. I rev to 2.5k rpm for 30 seconds, then let it idle and massage hoses for 30 seconds at a time. It takes a while to do it all, but I've never had any problems with air in the system afterward. Once up to temperature, shut off and top up as necessary once its cooled.

  11. Pulling mine next month. Plan on crank seal, (my reason for pulling it), New oil cooler and seals, crack pipe and seals, inspecting chains and tensioners (done 10k ago but worth checking regardless), I've done rocker and sump gaskets 3k ago so that should be ok, inspect core plugs, and anything else that looks a little dopey before painting it all up and chucking it back in.

  14. Have a search Bobby. Think it was mentioned a while ago that a mk1 ibiza splitter will fit with some settling? There is a pic knocking about somewhere too. Your car seems pretty low, so I reckon a 50mm would suit you best. Alternatively spoonfed do a 70mm one if you fancy that. Quite pricey though iirc.

  17. Gotta say a massive thanks to Mr Lobitos. Again the forum comes up trumps! I'd like to say its karma, as I've let a few things go for postage in the past. Even so, there aren't many genuine people left in the world, but the majority seem to frequent this forum! :thumbleft:
  18. No idea mate! I found an old copy of sprinter the other day and saw it in there, so just fished it back out and quoted from that! The article was written by the late Chris Gaskell. RIP.
  19. Standard camber for a vr is -1°20' +/- 20', all others are -40' +/- 20'. Standard track should obviously be 0°, +/- 10'. Adjust the track using offside track rod only though.

  21. Haha, I wish I could afford it Sean! If I had a grand I would have snapped up that project in the sale section, unfortunately (in this respect) the missus has booked two holidays this year that I have to bloody pay for! so I'm skint. :(
