  1. 294 cams!!?? That'll be "interesting" to drive in traffic............
  2. No you've got it all wrong, that only works on Corsas and Saxos as they are "special"
  3. I saw a comparison done back to back on a dyno for a mk3 Golf GTI 16v iirc. they had a standard airbox with a genuine paper filter, a "performance" panel filter, and a cone filter. There wasn't much difference between the two panel filters but the paper filter made the most power, with the cone well below both the panels due to heat soak. I do have a K&N panel in mine, but its simply because I bought the car with it in and as its a lifetime filter, a quick clean every now and again and job done. Cheaper in the long run for minimal losses. (About 0.3 bhp iirc).
  4. I'd always used a set of circlip pliers and some brute force previously, but the last time I did it on the Corrado it just wasn't happening! I had to borrow a windback tool from a forum member (very kind of him to offer) and it worked a treat! There is a recess for the plate in the tool itself, and it sits against the inside of the outer part of the caliper if that makes much sense. It basically sits where the outer pad would go. You need to take up all the slack so its forced against the caliper, then when you turn it'll stay in place. It still needed quite a lot of force, but that's good thinking about the bias valve. I didn't know about that but it worked in the end.
  5. Agreed a magnificent example going on pics and description. Although I cant help thinking its still a bit too much. I'd expect a stealth fitted turbo or something for 6k.......
  6. Problem with Halon is that its very dangerous if inhaled. I don't know the legalities surrounding it in public areas or for public usage. We have them in our engine rooms and it is very very affective. Even when we're wearing BA we need to vacate if its gonna be used. Although obviously if we're likely to loose further compartments by delaying, those in the space are ultimately expendable!
  7. Don't need to mate. I've done a little firefighting in my time! :onfire:
  8. There are pros and cons to them all tbh. Water will separate in an oil based fire so will be no good for that, Foam as well as water will fry electrical components, Dry powder has no cooling properties and will just blanket everything and make a mess, And Co2 isn't very good for oil based fires. Personally I'm going for foam as it offers the best level of protection for all fires, and its a risk worth taking to replace a bit of wiring or components in the event it damages anything.
  9. Must admit Pat, the pillar trims etc look excellent in black against the cream interior! Hmmm, food for thought!!!
  10. I'll have this please! I'm off work this week so if you PM me your address I can collect whenever is convenient for you. Thanks!
  11. Fair enough mate, half pension helps and I seriously thought about it tbh. I also had a medical board to attend so went to that but they kept me in. Redundancy happened at the same time but my branch wasn't targeted, yet I contemplated voluntary as well. I then got selected for promotion which I'm on course for now, and I've only got 6 years left come the end of it so I'm a lifer now!
  12. Looks ace that mate, can't wait to get a set on. Are you time done in 18 months then, or just had enough?
  13. Very nice! I'm on the lookout for some wheels, and it was a toss up between these and LMs. I was actually gonna go for the LMs but I've been thinking again (yes it hurts) and I think I'm gonna go for some RX228s to free up a little extra cash for other bits and pieces that really need doing! Looks awsome though, when is it likely to be on the road Sean? I think I'm done for this year tbh, I've got a few things I really need to get on with so its off the road atm, and I may keep it that way until I've accrued enough of the exterior trim parts I need to replace when respaying over winter. What suspension you eyeing up mate?
  14. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vw-Corrado-Ultra-Voilet-Electric-Recaros-/190888512590?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c71d78c4e Could be a steal!
  15. So is this just for the backbox? Not sure if they sell separately or just as a full system. If they offer the backbox on its own, I think it'll sell well. The majority of people now already have a SS exhaust system as originals have been rotting out for many years. If they offered the backbox separately I'd be very interested indeed. Dubpower are very reasonably priced - much better than the vast majority, and as long as quality and prices stay in line with their current price structures (no reason to believe otherwise), I think a separate backbox would be a very good seller. Edit; sorry was typing as you put the last post up, so its for the full system. Could you ask whether they'd be interested in offering the backbox on its own?
  16. I know mine offers somewhere in the region of 40% back up to 4 months into the policy, 30% up to 6 months, and 20% up to 8 months, but after that you loose all. That may have been the case with you Jim, and I know that doesn't help your situation Bill, I'm sure you realise they've got you by the bollox on this one mate. Its very unfortunate and tbh I'm not sure its one of the things I'd have checked out before without actually seeing it on my policy details.
  17. Wouldn't bother with drilling the airbox mate. It'll make a load of noise but do not much else. A cold air feed with a standard paper filter will give you the best results. ABF or KR cams will give you decent gains though, and exhaust mods will add a touch more. Thats about it tbh.
  18. I've been side by side off the lights with a mates EP3 Type-R until I decided I was going fast enough!, and did a Leon Cupra R off the lights up to about 60 when someone pulled out up ahead so had to slow down. That was actually on the way back from National Day and he was 4 up, but I had the missus in with me! :ignore::lol: and luggage in the boot.....
  19. Aqvila, you can re-colour them for very little using a furniture clinic kit. Deebo, Worth a road trip, and would take 10 mins to switch them in for yours and a comfortable ride back! Sean, thats what credit cards are for mate!!!!
  20. I use CG Jetseal 109 on my polished stuff, although tbh I've not tried alot else mate.
  21. Great effort with the wheels, they've come up mint! I quite like the white centres, maybe get the tyres fitted then run em like that for a while and see what you think Ross.
  22. But then how much would a top end Cadillac Escelade set you back? I know which one I'd rather have!
  23. Always too late.......... Second dibs please Ollie.
  24. Bit late then! :bonk:
  25. http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/scoop/vws-new-496bhp-30-litre-vr6-engine Wonder what this'll be like in a Corrado!
