  1. Its 55 on the VR anyway. Earlier models went up at 45, late at 55. Its an easy mod to do if your so inclined as as mentioned theres a guide on CCC. Damned if I can find it though!
  2. I'm like a nervous little teenager at MOT time. I have to wait whilst its being done, and just pace about biting my nails! Glad I don't have to do it with the Corrado for another 11 months!

    No no no!

I might buy this, just to skip it so no-one else will commit such a sin by fitting it! :nono::gag: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Corrado-16v-G60-VR6-carbon-fiber-spoiler-will-also-fit-all-other-cars-/121155064468?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c35679294
  4. Big thank you to dan95x! Steering wheel arrived today, well packaged and as described after PMs. He gave me a partial refund even though I said not to worry, and was very honest letting me know his original assessment was slightly incorrect before sending it out. Top bloke, would buy off him again in a flash!
  5. As above. Its very easy to get carried away though with painting the engine up, replacing clutch, lightened flywheel, injectors, yada yada...... Again as mentioned though its a pretty simple job actually. I did it on my old mk3 golf and had absolutely no experience with cars AT ALL! Just be meticulous and make sure you label all electrical connectors, take tons of photos each step to refer back if you need to, and put all nuts and bolts in sandwich bags labelled exactly where they go and you won't go wrong. All I needed other than a basic tool kit was a set of spline bits for the driveshafts, and I hired an engine crane. Simples!
  6. I think thats true too. I'm a Weapons Engineering Technician in the Navy, and it may sound bias again but I truly believe/know that as those coming through basic trade training are certainly the smarter and level headed ones. There are obviously exceptions, but in the large part those that choose engineering as a career have far more drive, commitment and enthusiasm than those who choose an (IMO) lesser career. The fact that they will achieve a Foundation Degree with distinction guaranteed, as well as years of experience gives them the jump over those that decide to go to Uni as well I think. If they are smart enough to join as an Officer, a full Degree with honours is what they WILL achieve. The Armed Forces are on a downward spiral like most other industries due to penny pinching bureaucrats, and there is now talk of scrapping the Foundation Degree and making the training more centred around specific roles. This will only diminish the level of competence and intelligence within the Engineering Branch, which really doesn't help matters in the long run, but does save a couple of quid short term. Every person going through professional training and doing the Foundation Degree now has to fill in a questionnaire and are asked as a class what they think about the proposal. Rest assured everyone is fighting against it, as its the only reason 90% of people go onto the course. the measly £120 extra coupled with the responsibility of a Section Head certainly doesn't make it worthwhile, especially as they have changed the the Pension terms as well now! As far as the Class thing goes, this is more evident in the Navy than probably any other Job, although they call it "Tradition." Officers, especially those higher up the food chain, certainly look down on us working class "Ratings," and although they make out they listen to opinions of the "men on the ground," when push comes to shove they follow up on what they think is best. It really is a large part of the Navy this divide in Class, and one of the biggest reasons we have fallen behind most other nations now.
  7. Just spotted this, may save you a bit of time and money mate. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/vw-corrado-4wd-shell-with-vw-mk2-golf-rallye-g60-floor-vw-syncro-full-roll-cage-/261259533553?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cd4481cf1
  8. Outer trim is very easy to remove and put back on so just make sure it has not been damaged by the fitter. Check the front headlining trim and A pillars afterward though, mine has obviously been changed without it being removed in the past, and has a couple of pretty large cuts all the way through. The front headlining trim is also now bonded on as well so will be a nightmare to remove if I need to! I reckon they probably tell everyone they'll need it the full day if they're taking it into the workshop. That way if any problems occur they have time to rectify/bodge them without you knowing!
  9. God damn that G60 looks good now! Can't wait to see more updates on the VR! I really need to pull my finger out now too!
  10. Yeah yeah yeah, more posts and pics! Always good to see a good build thread come from the beginning to end!
  11. Very different! Looks like a Corrocco now! Get some more photos from different angles Dan, be good to see what its like from afar too. :thumbleft:
  12. Nothing is ever straightforward is it! Good work mate!
  13. Led twice against the not so "mighty Bradford" and still couldn't manage a win........... Early days, but Jay Emmanuel-Thomas looked fantastic from what I've heard. Seven new first team players will always need time to bed in, but the usual defensive mistakes cost us again with two very soft goals conceded. Hopefully it'll get better in time, and tbf I'd never have thought we would be dominating so early on in the season. Onwards and Upwards though hopefully! COYR!
  14. Looks good to me, though I'm no expert. I'd go at least 16 row with a charger though unless you'll be doing track days regularly.
  15. Good news buddy! Did you ask them to quote you for the same work the other lot quoted you 3k for? You never know, it may be very reasonable and there's nothing better than a recommend from someone like Eric who's paintwork is immaculate!
  16. I use Carpro Perl. Its very dilutable so goes a very long way. Excellent on all exterior and interior plastics at different ratios, as well as tyres too!
  17. Welcome! Sounds like a very exciting prospect! Look forward to hearing updates on this and routes you will take fabbing this up. Don't think it will be very straightforward, but good luck all the same mate!:thumbleft:
  18. I've just SORN'd mine for the month as I've a few jobs to do. :bonk: If they tell you some weirdo in a Gray Saab was waving at them like a spaz, it was me!
  19. I find it harder to read with the light blue on white...
  20. Around the 6k mark for it to be done properly, but maybe half that using used parts and doing it all yourself for a reasonable setup I think.
  21. According to the handbook, every 20k. I'd say its worth changing them now, it'll give you a good couple of years hassle free motoring on that respect then. You can pull them out in a few months/few K time and inspect the electrodes to make sure its running reasonably well then too.
