  1. I'd say yes, you'll need a lead removal tool.......when i tried removing my leads (which were getting binned anyway), i tried pulling them out.....they just split and left the cap on the plug......zerocool on here sells the tools, and he'll get it to you quickly, mine arrived within 2 days :D Ha..... too slow as usual
  2. This should have been posted before all the engine stuff, but you know how it is trying to find the time to resize a pile of pics etc  Managed to get some replacement bits .......in the right colour too  ..........i hoped to get the 2 wings , bonnet ,rear bumper, drivers door.......but had to settle for the drivers door, wing and the rear bumper.........the bumper and wing arrived safely but the door was dented along the bottom  Anyway i had to try a wee repair at the bit where the badges go(pushed in about 15-20mm).....the repair went ok but the painting wasn't the best.......but not that bad  .......fitted the new rear bumper, repaired the door and primered it(that how it is just now)......not fitted the wing yet Also bought some bbs rx2's in need of a refurb......which i decided to do myself :cuckoo:   ........gave up on the centres and got them powdercoated........just got to finish polishing the lips and then reassemble :D
  3. Thanks Joe :D , After getting it put back together, coolant in etc, i turned the key and all was well  .....took it for a run and i have to say it felt a lot better, guess the service was needed :D .......also gave me a chance to see if the recently bought spoiler motor and mechanism had solved the dead spoiler issue.......and it had :D ........i then gave it a wash, also bought one of those snow foam lances   BUT........had a look under about an hour after returning in and there is a drip of oil :censored: .....so i'll have a wee look tomorrow evening after i get home to see where its coming from this time.......hopefully its something i haven't tightened properly or maybe the sump is warped???.......or maybe it is the dreaded crankshaft oil seal after all :( ........we'll see
  4. Hi Joe, I may well take you up on that one mate, as the sump is well scraped with a few dents on it too........probably most done by me as my driveway used to be really rough and i scraped almost every day :gag: :D......Fixed now though  ........As for the sump gasket i ordered another one.......same as the one which came off along with various other seals, gaskets etc........spent all day sunday(apart from some quality world cup football  ) putting it back together......... New Belt tensioner New ribbed belt New sump gasket New rocker cover gasket New Inlet manifold gasket New oil cooler seals(front and back) New oil filter housing and seal New leads New spark plugs New bolts for front bumper New bolts for rear bumper(needed as the old ones are in a bad way) There is probably more......and i'll add some pics later.......off to vw just now for some G12 so i can see if there is life :D
  5. After removing the stone guard/ flywheel cover and having a good look at whats happening i decided that its not the crankshaft oil seal which is leaking.........must be the sump gasket, and the oil cooler looks to be weaping slightly too, so its off with that also........and i have a new filter in a nice clean housing ready to go on too so that should hopefully sort out the oil leak......just need to get all the gaskets and a selection of screws and bolts as i'm not putting any of the old rusty ones back on  I have a replacement vr6 sump gasket but its not the same as the one i removed.........can anyone shed some light on this.......are there 2 types?......it looks the same shape but is made of cork or similar and the old one seems to be metal and rubber?????
  6. Not updated this for a wee while so thought i should........Have had an annoying oil leak which seemed to be coming from between the gearbox and the block, feared it was the crankshaft oil seal.........also had a bad noise coming from the water pump area. I was busy getting the parts ready to sort these bits out and a few other bits while i have the front end off, and last monday(the day i was meant to be driving to oban with the gang doing the scottish tour) while at the shops i started it up and there was a real bad noise, followed by a bang and a puff of smoke from the drivers side front  .........power steering felt bad and the battery light came on........i thought the water pump had exploded but it was the belt tensioner which had dissolved slightly  Anyway as i could no longer drive it i cleared out the garage and rolled the car in for some surgery :D
  7. Hi, I'll take one of these if possible? Cheers Martin
  8. Lovely colour mate........but i would say that  ........I prefer the first lights, which aren't standard btw.....the top half should be orange . Also prefer the schmidts but not sure how practical they'd be .......all in all looks very nice though :salute: :D
  9. Met up with Wendy,John and Chris today at Kames.........and then with Kip and Judith later on at their very modest accomodation  .........I have to say myself and Lyndsey(my other half) had a great day , really nice people and it was a pleasure to be in your company........and after the track we got to go for a wee drive from Muirkirk to Darvel, with me following Wendy(Lewis Hamilton) :cuckoo:   . Also as an extra when we arrived at Kames we found out that there was a Corrado competing, which was a real bonus :D .......It was great to meet you too Lindy........also known as lindy33 on here :salute: .........I do have a video of you going round the track mate but not sure how to put it up????.....youtube i guess, I'll look into that one..........a couple of pics anyway, poor quality though as i forgot my camera and had to use my phone :D
  10. Or could you tell me where this might be?, as i have read about this fix but have yet to see the 'thermal fuse' :D Oh and your corrado is very very nice mate :notworthy: :notworthy:  I only thought of doing this when I'd put it all back together (same with the sunroof repair which I'm chuffed with). Not sure if all Corrado rear spoiler motors are the same but I removed the internals of the motor from its cylindrical housing. Cut off the green fuse (there's only one about the size of a five pence) and bridged it with a piece of insulated wire. I've been driving the car for the past couple of days and it's worked a treat (so far). Best to just to buy another motor if you're unsure though ! Ah, i have had mine in bits but didn't open the actual motor.......just won a spoiler on ebay, so i'll see if that works and if not i'll try your fix mate :D
  11. Sorry to go off topic , but did you perhaps take any pics of this procedure? Or could you tell me where this might be?, as i have read about this fix but have yet to see the 'thermal fuse' :D Oh and your corrado is very very nice mate :notworthy: :notworthy:

    Sump Gasket

Not sure if your in or about Glasgow mate.......if so TPS is worth a try, you'll need an account though, scot vag paid members can use their cards to access an account.....this branch only though Glasgow NE TPS Unit 10, City Park Industrial Estate Townmill Road Glasgow Scotland G31 3AH Tel: 0845 6067006
  13. There's not much point in quoting TPS prices mate as you seem to be the only person in the world who has been able to blag a TPS account! :( Could the forum not set up an account?.......ScotVag have an account set up with TPS in glasgow, only for the paid members though, you just have to show your card.
  14. You might have 2 faulty motors?.......when mine packed in it had the same symptoms......would either not open fully or when it did it wouldn't close fully.......got a replacement motor and been fine since :D
  15. Thanks for the link, ordered me a set of those, very good price!! Me too :D
  16. I went to halfords to get some recently (LC4T), and they told me it wasn't on the list and that i must have the wrong code, but when i showed them the photo of the boot sticker they tried again and eventually mixed up some C4T, and all was well........colour seemed a good match to until i tried to laquer it
  17. The more i think about it, this might be the way to go.......i'll probably nurse it along until i amass all the parts i need and then take a big dose of brave pills and go for it  , luckily i do have a garage and i dont use the car as a daily so can take my time :D
  18. I'd love to take it there mate......its just a wee bit too far away
  19. That'll be No4 on this then........would it be easy enough just to pop the box off and replace the seal without doing any more major surgery?.......as the clutch is almost brand new and the chains/tensioners were done within the last 20,000
  20. mmmmm, that doesn't sound good........had a new clutch fitted not that long ago.......and certainly no more than 1200 miles ago........will i do it any long term damage by driving it as it is, if thats where the problem is?
  21. Hi , I have had an oil leak for a wee while now and have been trying to see where it was coming from........but it was very dirty/oily underneath so couldn't really pinpoint it..........so i sprayed it with gunk and then powerwashed it and waited for the drip, which didn't come  .........that was saturday and i only drove it again this morning......when i came in tonight i noticed a small drip had formed on what i think is the bit where the clutch goes?......so could this be oil from the gearbox?( i'm guessing not but ??) or is it more likely that the sump gasket is leaking from above and the oil is somehow dripping down, although the gearbox bit seems dry on the outside?. Sorry for the poor terminology :D ........the red arrow on the first pic shows where the oil drip was forming Cheers Martin
