  1. Your thread is the only reason i'm even considering taking these things apart :D I will get the seals and then give it a go.......not sure it'll be up to the quality of your job........but if its any good i'll take a few pics
  2. Cheers for the replys.........that link is great.......but i'm now even more worried as i'm sure i'll take them apart and not be able to put them back together  .......looks like i'll just get the seals from VW or TPS :D
  3. Hi, I was wondering if there was maybe a guide how/ what to do when tidying up a set of calipers before painting/fitting them? I have had a look on here and on the internet but cant seem to find an idiots guide on how to do this. I recently got a set of 288mm front caliper/carriers..........i already have these on the car but one of the bleed nipples is broken so i thought its best to get others, refurb them and then swap over. I have read that you can get new seals etc........where from? And the calipers i got still have the brake pads in them, sad to say i dont know how to remove them  ........i will suss it out as its only a metal clip but i'm sure someone will tell me after they stop laughing  A link to a guide with pics would be superb :salute: Cheers Martin
  4. When my clutch went (release fork snapped) i thought it might be the slave clyinder......so i got one and replaced it.......didn't solve the problem but it was fairly easy to do(and i'm useless at these things, just keen).....here is a pic(stolen from the wiki, green arrow is mine though.....the 2 arrows to the left of the green one are pointing to the 2 bolts holding it in place......also here is a link to a helpful bleeding procedure viewtopic.php?f=23&t=33710&hilit=clutch+bleeding
  5. Sorry mate, i forgot all about it.....i will look tomorrow......pretty sure there is one there
  6. I might have one from when i fixed my heater controls......i'll have a look tomorrow :D
  7. The search is your best bet mate viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3720&hilit=resistor viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6805&hilit=resistor etc etc :D
  8. I cut the writing off with a very sharp/flat blade and smoothed with some fine wet&dry.........only did this as i remember that being the advise when i did my rears :D
  9. Nice one :D .........weird one with the alarm though  .........come to think about it, on an old car of mine the alarm fob used to unlock a friends neighbours car???........Did you have the toad fitted recently?.....My alarm went off at midnight 2 nights ago and i was downstairs like a man possessed, nothing there and no-one about.......didn't stop me staying up another hour keeping watch  Anyway, really pleased you have it back :D
  10. I have never followed the cable , so not sure where it goes to, but as far as i'm aware it is very similar at both ends........its just a bowden cable, basically a thin wire in a sleeve, very similar to a brake cable on a bike, so if its not sliding through then its probably an issue at the other end?........i dont think its that long either so probably connects somewhere central behind the dash..........dont quote me on that though.......i'm sure someone with better knowledge will come in with better answers :D
  11. WOW.....Thats what i have on mine......and i'm guessing a few others will too.......gutted for you mate...... :bad-words:

    16v cam timing

I have this old screenshot of the 9a timing from when i had autodata up and running.......it is a 9a yours isn't it? :D
  14. The search is where you'll find all the answers you are looking for........both subjects covered many many times :D Have a look here http://wiki.the-corrado.net/late_heater ... epair.html and here http://wiki.the-corrado.net/illuminated ... trols.html Both items are in the knowledge base And your direction control might be a simple fix.......there is a metal clip that goes between the direction and the heat dials, which has been known to slip and jam
  15. Best to look through the members gallery mate.......loads of pictures of loads of wheels :D viewforum.php?f=11
  16. I changed mine recently for the ones from a passat........its got to be a certain age though as i think they have a couple of different ones........i tried using one from a similar age vento but it looked wrong when compared to the original.......where as the passat one was almost identical.....there is a guide in the knowledge base http://wiki.the-corrado.net/late_heater ... epair.html I found the hardest bit the clips which hold the 3 bowden cables in place.....they are a real hassle as you have little room to work.....so it scraped knuckle time and lots of swearing.........a plus point i found was that the clips on the passat were slightly smaller and easier to remove/put on, and the 'spider' which is green on the original was white on the passat which means it is now lit better . 1 Pop the front facing off 2 Remove the 4 screws, 1 at each corner 3 Remove cd player and cage 4 Unclip the cables and remove  There is always a chance that the metal clip that sits between the direction and heat control has slipped off and is jamming things??? Good Luck :salute:
  17. Got mine too mate.......not done them yet.......weekend hopefully . Thanks for doing all this

  21. I had it on my old pc.....and found it very informative.......pity the cd has a big scratch and wont load on my new comp.........it would be very nice if 'someone' was to offer to send me a fresh copy :norty:   as i have a key to activate it(legit btw)
  22. Yes and Yes It could be sticking and its easy to remove , replace. Undo the 2 pipes front and back and take off the electrical plug, and i think it just sits inside a rubber ring thing and just slides out.......its really easy , you see when you start.........once off spray brake cleaner into it and give it a good shake and you'll see black stuff coming out.........when i did mine on my old valver i filled it up , clingfilmed it and left it over night........then tale a thin screwdriver and make sure the sprung plunger inside moves freely.......add a couple of drops of oil to lubricate(i used 3in1)......and refit.......job done :D
