  1. Seems like a solid car with a lot of work gone into it - the UV Recaros are worth a fair it on their own.
  2. Tease - my guess is he's going to build a Gemini with Quaife LSD out of rare NOS Technics Lego!
  3. Is it not just an earth and 2 live pins, 3 speeds are got using 1 or 2 and 1+2 together?
  4. I've seen before that two parts can break - most often the handle striker, and also the arm that holds the release plate. Not near my car to check - but is there enough room go use something to release the lock catch between B-pillar and the door edge, from the inside?
  5. No worries - welcome to the forum. About the image hosting, as far as I know if you use the in thread browser widgets, the images get hosted on the site itself, but a lot of people use tapatalk because it's easier to upload straight from you phone,, in which case they are hosted by tapatalk. It's always been an issue for forums because over time they take up a lot storage unless you really police the size - and many forums lost all their images when the big photo hosting sites stopped cross-linking.
  6. You account is not locked - but I believe you only get a certain number of posts unless you are a subscriber. The only content that gets blocked is either spam or inappropriate and the offending user gets banned - that obviously isn't the case here. I'm not a site admin, just moderator, so can't change any account settings or rights for you. I'm pretty sure I'd not be considered condescending either. If you find the site useful., maybe consider joining - it's not much to be fair. Free advice of all sort can be got on the FB Corrado groups, but not all of it may be good. I'll leave it there.
  7. The striker on the door handle rotates to push the lever plate. A metal ruler or coat hanger with a hook made into the end of it should be able to sort this out - you'd be surprised how handy the local police and AA are at this - must be from lots of helping people who have got locked out of their cars. These VWs of that vintage are among the easiest of all cars to break into.
  8. Haha - "deep side pockets" - maybe Audioscape! And heavy duty shocks at the rear for carrying around all that dead weight and concrete.
  9. https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/1990-volkswagen-golf-gti/27161663?fbclid=IwAR2lE4Jg0tH1ARzpuRB8OlqEhbdbI4cSb58fKIYqHR3yq2Q1mIuz_6K7wFA Spotted here in Ireland - nearly €20k for an 8v - and apparently it's sold as well. Wish I had kept mine - could sell it now to fund bodywork repairs and fog lights on the VR6!!! I don't think that car looks that great on close inspection either.
  10. @Cressa - is there something wrong with the post? Seems just to link to an old Adrian Flux article about Corrados. I've marked it as under review for now anyway.
  11. That's a great find - let us know how you get on. Looks like they come in minimum lots of 10. Can't believer that there's an important part that costs less than £50!!
  12. I guess some people just like doing the resto/build work themselves so that they know it has been done properly - although personally I'd agree with spending the extra to get a well sorted example in the first place.
  13. I just meant that different units could have other faults, but this seems to be the most common. Meant along the lines of your experience could be different!
  14. I've seen about 5 of them, all with the same damage to the PCB, caused by heat soak and road dirt and wet being thrown up underneath. The valves and pumps rarely go bad unless the brake fluid has been contaminated or the pump has been left empty on the shelf for a while after being removed from a car, most often the case with s/h units. The only really interesting part in the WD episode with BBA is that they had a cool little black box unit made up for testing the valves etc. off the car, but probably does not do anything different to what the ABS ECU checks during the self-test. Once the valves are moving, then a clean, paint job and re-flowing the solder are the rest of the refurb. Some pumps units will be so badly damaged that they can't be rescued. I always love pointing out the horrendously expensive (think price of a second VR6) ABS pump unit you cans till get new from Classic Parts, but the site is down for maintenance at the moment.
  15. If you can open it up and inspect the PCB and cable for damage to the solder, it might be an easy fix for any electronics repairer - this is most often what is wrong with them, but your mileage may vary - there was a Sprinter write up on this recently.
  16. Yeah, probably best to ignore anyone who knows a friend who has what you’re after and contacts you directly, unsolicited - that kind of thing stinks a mile high. Problem is we are often desperate enough for rare parts that we’re willing to take it at face value. The up side is that the trusted guys on here will often help you out for next to nothing or just postage.
  17. Not sure - will take a look. You can report a PM to bring it to the attention of the mods. It seems you have the ability to message once you have an account, should really be restricted to paid subscribers - Toby would need to look into this as admin.
  18. That's like a time machine. They had some interesting variants and home-grown cars in Brazil - always fancied me an SP2, but you'd need at least a V6 or FI 4-pot in it to do it justice. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_SP2
  19. PM me the user name and we'll ban the account. Thanks Never trust anyone on a forum that is not willing to do business in public.
  20. Looks nice, but ouch - the Oak Green 5d 16v cars are some of the most desirable. How on earth would you put it back to a 5 door, "easily" ? you'd need a complete intact shell (could be off a non GTI car I guess).
  21. Yeah, 100-120 was about the going rate for a decent Gamma IV - it will all sort itself out eventually. my biggest issue at the moment is stuff getting lost/delayed because of shipping restrictions due to COVID.
  22. "Ab" means "starting at" - handy web site though
  23. It's a mess at the moment - have seen major delays here in Ireland because a lot courier freight used to go via UK. Some German delivery companies will also not ship to red zones at the moment, though they are not much better off themselves! I bough a nice secondhand pair of binoculars on ebay.de there just around New Year's, and DHL delivered it to somehwere in Germany and then back to the seller - very annoying.
  24. I think all deliveries are kind of all over the place at the moment, with huge delays, due to the double jeopardy of Brexit and COVID. It should sort itself out after a while hopefully.
