So any ideas on chroming the cam cover then? Prob not going to have time to do this before I put it all back together but would like to do this in the near future...
-
Lookin sweet mate 8) , those passat handels really make a difference, just need that drop sorting now

That's what I used for the inlet man, man lol. Don't want to do that with the cam cover though as the alu shows scratches much more... The pic doesn't show how polished it really is, I'll take some more shots once it's back in the car as that may show it off better (without a doubt, as the rest of the engine is going to look very dull now  )

9X16 Avez A's would look cool, not seen them on a c before... -
Cheers for the comments guys... Am now thinking I'd like to chrome the cam cover but have no idea about getting it done - any ideas? I've been reading up on it and am not sure you'd be able to dip it in the baths as you probably should only do the outside of it, so just wondering how this will be possible? Oh, and can you chrome aluminium?

I'd use white spirit which should strip the surface of anything that you don't want on it... always test on a small patch that is out of view before you do the whole thing (just incase) and you can always dilute the the white spirit if you're worried that it's to strong... HTH

The C is currently in peices at MCM in Millford (nr Godalming) having the cam chain, cam belt, tappets and exhaust manifold done - these were the reasons for the total loss of power if anyone remembers my problems that started a couple of months ago... So, anyway I thought that as the inlet manifold and cam cover were off I may aswell take them home with me over the weekend and polish them up a bit. Really pleased with the way the inlet man has come up and the red detailing looks 8) IMO. The cam cover wasn't so easy to polish and has some quite dull areas that I just couldn't get rid of, but on the whole I'm a happy bunny :D

badger, if you'd already paid for them they should be yours or you should be offered another set for the same price... I know that a price is an invitation to buy and the seller can withdraw the sale but once you've paid surely thats a done deal?
-
Good luck with it... mine failed the last one (but then I think mine really hates me anyway LOL) I'm sure you'll do fine

What condition is your areial in, has the rubber on it perished? Don't know how easy it is to do but do know that you have to get the base from VW as it is at a slightly higher angle than normal so it doesn't hit the tailgate when you open it... HTHAB

metman, do you have metalic paint? (just wondered if it knocks the price up a bit)
-
Your new set up seems to have given you a nice blue sky and it's cleaned your C - not bad at all for £400

Does my monopoly money work on this auction aswell? How about some Rolos or Polos?

I think there has been threads on this for the TT pedals in the past so a search should help you find something along those lines... IIRC you need clutch and break from the RHD model and the accelerator from the LHD. I'm sure people on here have done this - maybe they can enlighten you :D HTH

Speed camera detectors - possible GROUP BUY?
Phil K replied to MoonlightVR's topic in General Car Chat
I know HyAsAKite on here and a few others are also on Pistonheads.com so could post something on there to see if there's any interest? (assuming they do GB's) Otherwise might be worth mentioning to CCGB as I'm sure there'd be interest there.. I can see your point though mate, you have one and are really just trying to do everyone a favour - not worth major hastle. I'll keep my eyes open for further developments... Cheers Phil -
Thought they looked a bit too big to get through the holes in the rear clusters... have you tried em yet?
-
I'm not so keen on the ones that go up a bit in the middle (or down) but just want a deep one that goes straight accross... do kamei do one of these? (kinda mimiking the reiger grill + spoiler combe but with out the grill)

Alex, I can get some pressurised gas from town and help you strip the old girl and dust her parts  Gotta get it sorted for next thursday

I really want one but am currently very skint thanks to the C's never ending engine repair bills  If this takes a couple of months (will take that long to fiddle my expences for work lol) to come together then I'll be in for one! Seems like a good price, have you thought about offering this to any other forums? If you could get lots of interest maybe the price could drop further? -
Looking good Phat. It's amazing that your C was an 8v just a few months ago... couldn't tell now 8)

Very nice... am lusting after a set of those rims, they suit the C so very well. not the biggest fan of wood rim steering wheels but it does go well with your interior 8) -
AAAGGGGHHHH why do people do things like this
-
Lower the front a bit more?  No really, alloys (16" split rims IMO) nice back box and a set of in-pros' that and a de-badged grill and you'll have it looking 8)
