Poorly Battery. Nothing else it can be with those symptoms.
-
Just seen this and was gonna pop the bonnet, but looks like you now have the wiring answer. Come back if you're still having probs with her
-
Well, while we are on the subject of helping each other, my VR always likes a run out..... Give us a shout if you want another pair of eyes looking at it
-
Agree with the Dr, sounds like you've created a circulation problem when removing the a/c rad. Have you 'messed up' the pipework somehow?
-
Hi matey, welcome to C ownership - and a thin wallet, LOL. As said, just post up Qs and you'll get loads of help here.
-
Well I'm no expert but sounds very similar to saysomestuff's problem a while back (have you got that fixed yet mate?) so I'd suggest you check the lambda probe hasn't died as that will cause the symptoms you describe. Plenty other things it could be, but it's something worth looking at.

I believe it is an offence to leave the vehicle unattended on a public road with the engine running as I recall a news item, probably last winter, when a chap was prosecuted for warming his car up like that. I remember thinking the police were being a bit anal about it, perhaps they'd prefer him to drive off not being able to see where he's going. Course you'd be ok on your drive.

Neil, I know you said its in another garage now but before you start worrying about gearbox internals I'd check the basic mechanicals are ok ie wheel bolts (especially if garage left your cv bolts loose!), engine mounts, all suspension related bolts. Might also be the balance weight on one drive shaft has come loose. Keep us posted on findings

Couple of things. Anything disturbed/disconnected at the front end, eg subframe, lower ball joint, strut/hub bolts can affect your camber and tracking as things never go back exactly where they were before. Did they reset the tracking when the boots were done? They should have held the s'wheel central when adjusting, so could also be that if they didn't centre it. HTH

Unfortunately, a. the KB won't let me post Part 2 so you can't see the parts & tools lists. b. I've just moved house so have no net connection at present and everything is trapped in my laptop. Posting this from work. Dinkus, do you still have a copy of the parts, from our earlier versions of the KB, that you could send to Stan perhaps?

My new garage. You can see I've not moved in yet. Hardly any room for even one C, so it will be getting a bit bigger as soon as I can get the builder round.

Belated post, sorry, just lots to do since we got back, but no excuse. Got to say a very big public thanks to Tempest for doing all the org for this, making it all work, and constantly ensuring we were all OK. No rest for the whole trip, either navigating, translating for us, or translating for our new German friends. An all round fantastic trip. Absolutely top man. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Ha ha, cheap BMW driver looks down on a C, what a loser. He's just upset that our cars were prouced by a proper designer with exquisite taste. We could always email his comments to the great man himself, if we're lucky he might send the boys out to burn down the BM factory.

 For those not in the know, TIMMMAAAAAAA is the new 'prost/cheers' :drinking: :drinking: :drinking: :drinking: pleeeeese can I go to bed now?

I've had a real busy day. Got back home at 1305 after staying over with Supercharged. My round trip figures (computer 2): 25 hr 59 mins 31.2 mpg 1,098 miles 42 mph Unpacked, had lunch etc, then took over my new house at 1530, and been there for a while. Now off to night shift early to get the VR on the ramp and see how loose my cat shield really is - it suddenly started rattling as we drove into Nordhorn on Monday(?) evening. PS Did an oil change before the trip; she has not used a single drop.

The 'girl in red' is called Natalie, Ritchies fiance. Temp change of avatar as a little taster of how much fun we had.

Cheers guys. Shan't know exactly what's up till its all off the car again. Thinking of dissing both pipes, from reservoir and pump, still attached to the rack as will be easier to deal with them on the bench/floor. Never mind, the VR is all super shiny and ready for Germany.

Bother, bother, bother. So having taken the subframe and rack off the 16V 2 w/e ago with Yandards (cheers Yan), to fit new steering arms, I then had a bit of trouble refitting the fluid pipe unions. Not being sure how tight to do 'em up it took several attempts before it stopped leaking. And, of course, I was then out of fluid to top it up again. So I got some more fluid last week and topped her up, and everything looked good. Even took her for a short drive this w/e to check all was OK. So I booked her in for front suspension align and MOT first thing tomorrow. Tonight (at work) I thought I'd give her a wash and shine up, but as soon as I started her there's all sorts of wailing from my PAS pump. Blessed union leaking again and she's bled out all over the car park, not surfaced so it all soaked in. :( Now I don't know whether the union/rack threads are knacked or what, so guess what I shall be doing after I get back from the Karmann trip! Don't you just love 'em

Man I feel so much for you. Trouble is what do you do. Do nowt they think they're off scott free and laugh at you. 'Talk' to them and you still risk them kicking in every panel next night and still laughing at you. I'm afraid a sudden unexplained accidental death is the only answer. If I hear of a couple in the news then I'm sure you were at my house........
-
Hi dude, welcome. Have a look at cars for sale on here.
-
Well, it's not a 'difficult' job, ie the process is simple. The problem is that there's limited access and the union will probably be a b*****d to undo. So could take a while, bruise a knuckle or two and prompt the odd mild swear word.

Drill a load of interlinking holes along the length, or use an angle grinder with a thin disc to cut a slot, and then file it tidy. Need to hold it in a vice and be a bit carefull it doesn't jump about though, and protect them eyeballs!

If you look under the subframe, you will see two bolts screwed upwards through the subframe turret and into the engine mounting metal shell. The inner (short) bolt is just behind the balance weight (lump of iron bolted to the front of the subframe), the outer (long) bolt you can undo via a hole in the wishbone (if using a socket and extension). Or you can just use a spanner. Can't remember exactly, but either 17 or 19mm. If you undo the 4x13mm bolts holding the bracket to the engine, you can then lift the mounting up out the subframe turret and remove the mtg and bracket together, either up behind the engine as you have the manifold off, or you can twist it around and it will come out over the drive-shaft and down behind the engine. Slightly fiddly but it does go. HTH

L plate 16v on the M4, working through the post Membury accident traffic jam today. I was the madman in the inside lane, waving from one of my work Focuses. Lately I seem to have been completely blanked by any outside my local area, so just wanted to say what a pleasure it was to get such a cheery response from you two guys; hope you're on here.

Excellent. Well done for taking them on.
