Well I'm an advocate of doing what it says in the handbook (must be my RAF training lol). Quote Do not overrev or use full throttle until the engine has reached the normal operating temperature Unquote. For me that's 80 degrees. I also let them tick over for a few mins before switch off after driving hard (if I haven't eased off for the last few miles). And yes, it really hacks me off too having the chav in my boot when the engine's cold.

really? there may be hope for me yet (well, someone was bound to say it)
-
I expect Kev has probably dynamatted his.........
-
Bugger, wish I'd known that yesterday Steve, you could have come down and cut my grass
-
Yeah, just smile and let them go, they ain't worth the effort. They only do it coz their pile of tin hasn't got C style.

Nick mate, this post will be no use to you other that to say that I couldn't find anyone in this part of the world despite hard searching and had to wait till Inters/CCGB Nat days to find one. There's usually a few around at the shows etc so that might be your best bet. I still reckon that dent'll be easily sorted; I've had a couple on the swage line done which I reckon you'll have difficulty spotting.

He he, just try and stay going in the direction you should be looking :)
-
shhh, people will start to talk......

Looks cool Yan. Once I get moved and take the valver to bits I'll be round to see you........
-
Glad to hear you had room to miss everything, Nick and we aren't now going to strip her for spares. H&Rs anyone? Yeah, they do change ends quickly don't they. I hit some diesel on a roundabout out Chippenham way last year, amazing how it concenterates the mind.
-
Why? I like to see who I've left behind in the wet :)
-
Don't know where you are taking her, but can't the garage just put in the fluid you specify and charge you for how much they use? Or don't you trust them that much.
-
Ah. OK Henny, hadn't picked up on that. But the pipes separated off the cat real easy, no rough treatment needed and the cat wasn't disturbed at all. So I'd confidently say that it will get jarred far harder than any we may have given it with any driving on our fantastic UK road surfaces - not! Still, be interesting to see what Vince finds wrong.

Beat me to it Dinks. V nice Nick, I have to say I do like the 5 spoke look and 16s won't make her as hard as 17s. Perhaps see her next week for the strut change?
-
In fairness I think you'll find that refers to the actual probe, not the part external to the exhaust pipe :|

Yandards' paw actually, but we were having a group latex day

I haven't got all the techy detail, but basically it varies the amount of fluid pressure applied to the back wheels. The pivot movement of the rear beam is transfered into the compensator by that lever. So when you brake hard (front drops and rear lifts) the rear braking pressure is reduced to help prevent the rears locking up. I'm sure there will be some way of testing it but afraid I don't have that info. No doubt someone here will. HTH a bit.

Stuart, was also about to do one for front and back (and a few other things) as have some recent pix of the job on NickVR6's. But the more the merrier so here's a shot of the strut/hub bolts
-
Ditto, anytime matey. Good breakfast too. :)
-
Dixxy, All Cs have a compensator, with or without ABS. I wouldn't like to say whether you have broken it or not without looking at it, but it certainly doesn't sound good. To be fair though, the lever is just operating an internal piston, so it may well be that it can be detached/reattached without problem.

great news Nikki, glad to hear its coming together at last

As requested, a couple more from Nick's "dirty weekend", though should really be under "what I did to my C" - full suspension, rear bushes and brake bleed, episode II. We weren't at Stealth for this though.
-
Some pictures of Nick and "friends" during a dirty weekend away from his wife.

Just a thought Dave, I'm assuming yours will be dry when you get it back. The good book states: "Replacement pumps must be filled with hydraulic oil and turned by hand several times before installing. Failure to prime the pump before use may cause excessive noise in operation or damage" Please ignore this if you knew :)
