  1. That sounds like us trying to get one of the front stuts off. After several goes we ended up centre drilling it and cracking it off with a cold chisel. Oh what fun.

This is one on a VR6
  3. Doubt it as your round town temps are OK. Personally I wouldn't worry as long as you have stable temps and it's obviously not overheating, ie climbing off the scale. Mine will often run 90 to 100, or a bit higher depending on weather and driving.
  4. Yeah, but you know what I mean
  5. Ha haaaaaaaaaarrrr, classic. Whose been reading too many Haynes manuals then.

    Quiet

I remember opening up our section in the ATC Tower one Sunday morning back in the good old days at RAF Binbrook and thought it was pretty quiet. Eventually wandered round to the Fire section and discovered it was Easter Sunday LOL
  7. Ah, perhaps a later shot Mr Pink. Some of us were still only at the foreplay stage.
  8. Hi guys, just thought I'd raise a thought on turning the bolt round. Anyone know whether the shank/thread sections will be a 'not perfect fit' if fitted the other way round? ie the thread, instead of the shank taking load at the bracket. Initial thoughts are that it should be OK, but there may be someing weirdly VW about it and I can't tell till we get in there again next w/e. Somehow it seems too simple to just turn it round, VW must have put it in that way for a reason - other than pure Teutonic cussedness (apologies to Eric). :study:
  9. As we said last night, very nice Dinkus, but I really don't think you should put up any posts in 'What I did to my Corrado today' untill you've done the how-to..... :)
  10. Yesterday. Took all the suspension off the 16v again and replaced the bump stops with standard sizes instead of shortened ones. Washed them.
  11. oooh, me too, we can form a new inner club

  13. Just love it like it is. Had two guys hanging out their car widow yeterday in Bath giving me the "nice car mate". Felt like the Renault advert LOL
  14. Don't understand Dave. If you are thinking of moving there's no rush for the wall so your Mum could easily have replaced the pump for you and probably still had time to make your tea. :fadein:
  15. oh how I miss all that
  16. no no no no no no no.........................etc
  17. henny, you loon Anyway, good news. Got my new spring top caps and fitted the new Koni struts, H&Rs & new mtgs to the 16v. Fantastic. Better ride height, slightly higher like I wanted. And she doesn't crash and bang anymore. Though do still get a strange hydraulic squish noise (presuming this is the damper oil being exercised) over larger holes so am going to refit the standard front bump stops instead of the shorter Golf ones and see if that makes any difference to the damper travel.
  18. I don't want you getting any ideas now Mr Wales......
  19. Mods, can we add "wibble wobble joint" to the glossary? I'm lovin it
  20. Had a bit of a mare with the new suspension for the 16v this evening. Thought I'd do the front first so strip it down then find that the spring caps have been battered out of shape - I knew something was wrong with all the banging and crashing but didn't expect this. So ordered new caps, put the old set up back on, and replaced the rear instead. Think it may have to come off again for a circlip adjustment after I've done the front but wll have to wait and see. Sigh!
  21. That's interesting, I wonder what caused that then. Obviously first time I'd driven yours, but sounds like you felt the 'nervousness' too. Doesn't seem like its the difference in wheel size as we thought then. Any other ideas now?
  22. LOL, loving it (in more ways than one) First log in since saturday so not seen before today. Kind words Kev, it was nice (how can I say this without being misinterpreted) to try each others. Well impressed with the box and roll control Kev, I'm sure that's lots of fun on an open road. Steve - do you want a copy of my price list LOL (discount for the forum)

  24. Different models had different senders fitted (don't ask me why) so you may have the wrong one. You can test the circuitry works by checking the display readings with: a. open circuit cable (no sender fitted) b. short circuit cable (stick a bit of wire between the terminals instead of the sender) Somewhere at home I have details of the readings in each case, but I think they are -40 and +50 but can't recall which is which.
