I have been meaning to start a build thread for some time, so i have some catching up to do! To get the balll rolling we rewind to March 2013 and a slightly dodgy looking ebay advertisement. I had been looking for a Corrado for about 6 months and apart from a very nice Storm in Northern Ireland this looked the best bet.

I asked for £7k and they came back with £5k. I'm going to push them next year to accept a higher valuation.
-
Ray, can I ask what value they agreed? They offered me a value less than I asked and I am beginning to wonder if it is worth the extra hassle and expense.

I've been looking at these for my Land Rover. I guess it could be attached to the central console.http://www.ultimatecupholders.com/fischercupholder.html

Thanks Chugs. Looks like a great car Westie. Always good to see an article about a Corrado, it helps raise their profile.

It's always interesting to read these articles, but they rarely tell us anything that we didn't already know. A quick scan in the newsagents will do me unless someone scans a copy and posts it up here.

Do you mean these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190791918984?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Welcome to another Kent member.

Even I managed to remove and replace the rubber boot. Once it is out replace the fuel cap and blast a hose up into the area to remove all the mud that has accumulated. This should help prevent corrosion in a known Corrado weak spot.

fingers crossed. Don't get a ticket!!

Unless you are looking for a project it's always best to buy the best you can afford. I was also impatient and ended up compromising. It has cost me a small fortune on replacement of brakes and suspension components. It least the bodywork and interior are in good condition.

Could you keep the C as a weekend toy be an option and then buying a cheap and newer 'run around' as your daily driver? A 20 + year old car is always going to cause more problems than a new car as various parts come to the end of their life either through age or by simply wearing out. Having said that you seem to have sorted out lots of issues and it would be a shame to quit now and let someone else have the benefit of your hard work and money.

D G Autotech, operated a repair service for these. I'm not sure they are still in business, but they may be worth trying.

There has been a lot of talk on here about replacement door mirrors and glass. I have seen these on ebay and wondered if anyone else has purchased one of their heated mirrors? Before buying one I wanted to check if is a direct replacement and the electrical connections and backplate fit a Corrado. If it is going to involve bodging I may be better buying a cheaper mirror and trying to reuse the existing backplate. Thanks http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Right-driver-off-side-heated-clip-on-wing-door-mirror-glass-for-VW-Corrado-88-95-/290944469029?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Model%3ACorrado&hash=item43bda44825

In my view the Corrado is already a classic car. The fact that we are here discussing it, spending 000's repairing and renewing parts must indicate that it has a following and has become collectible. In addition the supply chain for spare parts is building up, for example it is now possible to buy a carpet set. When these things start to happen people begin to realise that a car is a realistic purchase option that they can obtain support for. There are plenty of other cars that are 20 or 30 years old that are unloved by all but a few. As regards the Golf Mk4, I believe it still has someway to go. A few years ago I wouldn't have thought the Golf MK1 and MK2 would become collectible, but decent examples are now selling for £10k.

Welcome to the forum. Perhaps you should start a business refurbishing sunroofs, you would get a lot of work off this forum alone!

Some of these companies post from Ireland to avoid UK laws. i got mine from this company http://www.dmb.uk.com/cat/122/dealer-sets They could do the pre 2001 font and add the original dealer name, which i thought was a nice touch.

It is always difficult to establish a market price when there are so few sales of either decent low mileage original cars or pristine restored cars. The few cars that are available are high mileage and require a lot of work to bring them upto a good standard. I think we sometimes forget how much we have spent in terms of money and time to get our cars into their current condition.

The same happened to mine last year. I replaced the broken part and it has been fine ever since. Incidentally the plastic chamber shattered into so many pieces it took ages to diagnose the problem. The AA man even missed it and agreed to trailer me 120 miles to JMR!
