  1. Same happened to mine a couple of years ago. I think it was just brittle, as the car has been fine since it was replaced. As Jim says they are readily available from VW.
  2. Looks very tidy in the photos. I expect it will be snapped up quickly.
  3. That Storm looks rough. I don't think I've seen one with a hole in the wing before!
  4. "some cosmetic tidying" is that euphemism for extensive welding and a complete respray?
  5. Wow!! That's great news for the rest of us. It will make justifying the repair costs to the Misses at lot easier!
  6. If the Corrado is to become a true classic rather than mere curiosity then the price is probably not unreasonable.
  7. Certainly one for the shows and extreme pampering!
  8. Spotted a green 16v? turning into the Woodman car park in Benfleet Essex.
  9. Still cheap at £10k. Just look how much a humble Mini is these days.
  10. I'll try and pick up a copy of EVo when i'm in London later. I know it's been said before, but I really can't see all the fuss over a couple of plastic badges!
  11. If you are a member of the AA with Home Start service, you would be entitled to a free tow down to John's. I'm sure there are good garages closer to home, but John's work is superb.
  12. I had a Golf GTI 16v as a company car in 1995. From I ordered an upgraded radio with a CD player. From memory I think these were dealer fit and you had a choice of anything from the Sony range. Even in 1995 cassette players were considered old technology! Therefore I assume that many Corrados of a similar age would have been fitted with upgraded kit.
  13. Good to see lots of new/old members on here with cash to spend on a decent car. Hopefully, this shows prices are increasing to meet the Corrado's reputation as a modern classic.
  14. Welcome Mat, I have a late VR6 and have found this forum excellent for tracing those hard to find bits. Nothing has defeated me yet in my quest to retain its originality!
  15. Welcome. I would love a VW camper!
  16. As far as I know some of the original VW fitted units had inbuilt amplifiers. If you have fitted an aftermarket unit the chances are you need to install a small amplifier between the end of the aerial cable and the head unit. I replaced my aerial amp in the summer and from memory it cost about £5 from eBay. I believe some early cars may have had a separate amp installed by the roof aerial, but I guess this can also be fixed by installing a new amp closer to the radio.
  17. Looks like a great Corrado and under a 100k miles as well. I guess some of the mods may not be to everyone's taste, but I'm sure you could sell them on a recoup a fair amount of the purchase price.
  18. This forum Is a Antarctic resource. I doubt whether my Corrado would be out he road today without it. Thanks for all your hard work and good luck with the wedding.

    Number Plates

I used DMB to make a dealer set for mine. It is worth remembering that the pre 2000 font is slightly larger than the current font. IMO it looks much better than the current smaller font on a classic car.
  20. Welcome aboard. Let's see some photos and a few more details.

    seat release handles

The originals occasionally appear on eBay. I managed to source a drivers side one a year or so ago.
  22. It's not often that you see one as original as this.
