  1. For the Seat setup you need the lot - used to be £350 for everything from Seat but now much more expensive... If you're sticking with the standard 280mm setup just buy genuine VW discs - nothing lasts like these, especially with uprated pads!
  2. Great photo and good idea with the helmets... Me and Jim we're in Germany also last week - big Scirocco meet and Karmann / Wolfsburg trips! The Ring - was speaking to a German guy who said they still have on average at least one fatality a week - not a great record :-(
  3. As Daviid says the problem with going to bare metal is then replicating the thick filler / primer that VW use from the factory.
  4. It is annoying but you have to remember the newest Corrado is now 16 years old - 5 years ago you could buy all the parts you listed above and at the time we encouraged people to buy spares before they became unavailable as was the situation at the time with the MK1 based cars. Hence I have a loft full of 535 specific trim parts. I like you had a MK2 when they were under 10 years old and like you say it was nice that you could order anything and most stuff I bought like badges / wheel bearings / mirror glass was instock which always surprised me! Hopefully Classic Parts will offer more lines soon as they are a growing business - we were quite impressed last week in Germany that they seem very enthusiatic and are open for suggestions of parts to re-manufacture... prices are not too bad either when going to them directly - the 3 boden cables for the heater (same as MK2) are obselete but they can supply all 3 for 11 Eur (£10), rear VW roundles are the same price etc.
  5. Could be a midget locked in the boot...
  6. You'll probable find it's just the earth that's melted and you can replace this - I would remove it from the fuse box to inspect though as it may have melted some of the insulation on other wires.
  7. Me, Jim, Eric etc will be there on the CCGB stand next door at the classic car show
  8. No, got back on Monday... where are you based then?
  9. Could be the MAF but the fact that it would not start could be an ECU relay fault - when was this last changed?
  10. Both excellent tyres and I've used both over the last couple of years along with P Zero Nero's and Eagle F1's - I found the P0's too hard and the Eagle's too soft so I'll also be going for one of the above next time I need a pair. Only issue at the moment is the price of tyres - seems to have shot up by around 25% over the last 2-3 months!!
  11. Hi mate - no sorry, they did not hold them on site and didn't have time to order us one while we were still there but they do do them and they are 6 Euro each... I'll put in an order with them at some point in the next couple of months but am about to go to spain for a week so not had time to think about what I need. Really good guys though at Classic Parts and they seemed very enthusiastic, also much cheaper than VW Heritage for prices! Was hoping to get you one and offer it to you for £850 with a free set of ZW1's
  12. I'd be very interseted in this if you were taking out mate! Only issue is I think the heater box and fan are different so you'd need to replace those
  13. Was that from the guy in Germany Gareth??
  14. Fuse 14 for the mirrors - electrix windows are on a seperate fuse though above the main fusebox... I'd check all you can see
  15. If I had a constant clunk when driving i'd err... stop driving! Take it to quick fit or similar to get it diagnosed...
  16. This is how they break = plastic goes brittle inside and cracks If you open the switch up you may be able to get the remains out and get the switch working again but a new one is the best way to go - see the group buy!
  17. Me and Jim have just come back from Wolfsburg Chris... went to the Automuseum, Autostadt and then to the "new" VW plant at Osnabruch... The Karmann museum is still there and although they have cut the number of cars down (VW heritage only) they are looking in great condition with the addition of the Golf 6 cabrio which has been produced there since March. Autostadt - fantastic place and wish we had more time to spend there, very interesting and currently building a Porsche exhibit. Our Visit was also on VW which was good! Classic Parts are now in a separate part of Wolfsburg and business seems to be expanding rapidly - really good bunch of people and very enthusiastic! Only slightly disappointing part of the trip was the Automuseum and the "top gear" storm - it was filthy (!!) along with most of the cars in the museum - all had mud underneath and clearly had not been washed before going on display and the Corrado was looking particularly tired for what should be a practically new car! Luckily the classic part of the autostadt and the Karmann museum was a world apart from this. ---------- Post added at 11:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:41 PM ---------- Lol, didn't read the above before I posted... yeah the tax disc was still on it... just can't believe the condition though - looked like it was last dusted using sandpaper :-(
  18. i'll take the spoiler with the brake light LED's ;-)
  19. Ah ok, if the nuts are stainless then they are prone to loosening, also the fact that it's solid maybe makes it vibrate more... Nylocks should do the trick but you could also try sprung washers or best of all I reckon the oval lock nuts vw do
  20. Just get new bits from VW!
  21. No mate - Wolfsburg :-) On way now with Jim!
  22. I'm going to classic parts tomorrow so will see if I can bring one back!
  23. I cut 35mm off the top of mine (so the dust shield still screws on) - this is the distance it was lowered by from standard. This is correct as the rears act as a spring assister so if you don't cut them you will always be bouncing on them and destroy them in no time.
