  1. It's Hammerite - cack! Use a proper calliper enamel or get them coated professionally
  2. Just buy non heated ones from VW - £5 the pair!
  3. Pads are the same - ie either side but match the caliper - you need the thinner ones by the sounds of it
  4. If it's turning over fast then check the cam belt!
  5. Same slave but the master changed on chassis number
  6. Splitter can be bought new for VW!
  7. Swap the whole thing, much easier that doing just the solenoid!
  8. screen is aftermarket, never standard but useful to have! Grill is original for UK market but as you say not great for cooling, new ones are all fully open
  9. It's now G 004000 you need, £5 from VW and 1 bottle is enough for the car
  10. Take the slam off for better access and maybe try pliers / irwins but mask off so you don't scratch the slam panel. Stainless steel is the only way to go really... I use No. 10 x 16mm for the tops and I think the middle ones are 25mm - Screwfix sell them
  11. Nice mate - I spoke to the bloke a while ago and he said he'd do one with plain stitching for me... you happy with the quality? Beer - is that a St Peters bottle I see?
  12. Euro often will give a price of 20-30% cheaper than on the web... always doing voucher offers too if you sign up. For Bosch parts try Bosch dealers - I have a 'fuel injection' place near me that can supply virtually any Bosch part and always cheaper than ECP / GSF etc
  13. They did change the master but I thought all the slaves were the same...
  14. Yeah it's weird - you need to dremel a bit off but as David says just get one from a MK3 Golf etc in a breakers
  15. GPC used to keep these on the shelf!
  16. I do believe it because I've seen it done - Easy with the right tools!
  17. If it's going up in traffic then the rad fan switch is not working or the stat is not 'fast' enough... change both of these with fresh coolant. It's important that the cooling system works as it should to not put too much pressure on old Heater Matrixes
  18. I drove a VR auto a few years ago and loved it - I said at the time if I were to ever buy a VR it would be an auto!
  19. Same boxed kit from VW or TPS - most VW dealers will give a 20% discount on parts like this but you find they don't keep them instock now whereas TPS do.
