Looking at the first picture the lowest part that looks quite manky is the back of the gearbox where the drive shafts are connected... It just looks like a build up or crap rather than a leak, if your nor getting drips then it cant be bad...

So are you just using the bufer to take the polish off, or do you apply it with it is aswell????

As for cleaning, any Gunk or a quick squirt of WD40 will get it off... Ill go and have a peep under my bonnet in a sec and see what it is..

Good work Rob.. I know my old mand has just aquired one of these, am a little hesitant on using it as dont want to make a mess... Can you only use these for polishing and then wax by hand afterwards???

Its no where near the oil filter... May be worth giving the area a good clean and then monitoring it...

Hoses and wheels are a bonus... No mention of history but its a good price... It is Aqua blue not Mystic as stated in the questions...

There are 2 grooves on the gearknob (below the leather).. You should be able to get a plastic circlip that holds the gaitor to the knob...

When it comes to wiring one of these up then what temp should it be kicking in?? Any suggestions on a good place to get one of these??

Right, quick update on the cooler stat.... Not god update im afraid, on a long run im seeing temps oil 100, which is good but water only 75 which i reckon is too cold... I drove 350 miles last night with no stops and averaged 31 mpg, im used to getting 34-5mpg, doesnt sound a lot but its a drop of 10%... So, i reckon for this type of driving its too cold... I have a feeling i may be onto another stat very shortly... Intend to see Jimmi in the next couple of days and have a look at my original stat and take it from there.... So watch this space for progress, still no fans but fingers crossed ill solve that problem at the same time.....

Id be tempted to carry out a full flush of the system and defintely would recomment a genuine cap.. I wouldnt know the best way of draining the system down to try and get all possible traces of plastic out though, im sure someone around here will though.. The plastic could have been there for any length of time.. Good luck... Seems there are a lot of cooling problems about, keep them coming, eventually every single fault will end up in this thread to help those in the future who get the same probs...

It runs between 80 and 90 now depending on how hard it is pushed... Ill bring the stat home.. Just the fans to sort now Jimmi, ill be home on Wednesday so ill give you a shout at some point and have a pop down..
