  1. That yellow one has probably been superseded. You should have a brown 4 pin plug as well if you have air con, I have one of these in a box bought in error from the dealer. Pretty sure there should be 4 sensors in your thermostat housing
  2. Early vr6 had painted Corrado script with red VR6 badge. Later ones after K plate hade brushed chrome rear badges. All had shiney chrome VW badges
  3. My blackberry princess still had them fitted. When in place they stop the fuse box flopping/tilting down. There are round sticky out bits or locating zits that click into holes on the metal bracket hanging down from the dash. Sadly not all cars have been left alone enough or worked by people who care very much to still have them.
  4. The VW badge isn’t so bad. The carrodo script one on the other hand is difficult to get off in one piece. You’ll need new little plastic gromit things to put the badges back on, you can get these off eBay or heritage
  5. Bloke who works at the local tip approached when I parked up to get rid of a boot full of leaves, thought I maybe parked wrong but, no, he started saying how lovely the car was and you don’t see them anymore and he hadn’t seen one in years, takes him back a bit. As he set off walking around it he asked “ is it a GTI” “no I it’s a VR6” I replied waitIng for the penny to drop. Which it did when he got around the back. But to his credit he never mentioned Scirroco but we both new that’s what he thought it was at first. Still he said bloody lovely when he walked off. You got to laugh
  6. From what I gather John Mitchell Racing are the 1800 force induction specialists I’d give him a call or send him a PM. Your average mechanic will struggle through unfamiliarity. Stealth have a good name for the VR6 but he might be able to help too. Ideally you want someone to work on it who knows the engine type inside out, although they may quote a higher per hour £, they WILL fix it quickly once they get on it. Good luck matey Shaun
  7. Is that a 1992 or reregistered private plate Keith ?
  8. Alarm guys sometimes run a wire to the bulb in the boot so it trips the alarm when the hatch is opened
  9. What knickers have you got on.
  10. I’ve just bought a Bosch, £85 that is 60ah same as one in car. I’d see if I could exchange it for another one Jim on a cold morning that one morning might struggle after a while.
  11. I have gone through this before and did what Dox has said, but this method has its problems, the panels aren’t always as good as you would like for what ever reason, the seller sometimes isn’t as accurate as you would like. This time around I bought a new panel, £300 from heritage delivered. This was around January. 535-827-025/C after checking it’s still available but a bit more, 409 euros now. If you order through heritage it’s free delivery. What ever you decide, good luck matey, I feel your pain.
  12. I agree with the above. Should be 3 bolts into the cross member that holds the engine mount on each end, 2 big ones hold it all together inc. bumper the one keeps the member in place when just removing the bumper.
  13. High frequency on 3 phase tig welding could fry an ecu, it should be disconnected. The scratch method start up for tig wouldn’t cause this. Battery should always be disconnected what ever welding process. Just what I’ve heard and found. Good look Graham

Have you sold the car Rich.
  15. There is a seller on eBay called Deutsheparts selling a genuine oil cooler for £59. I had some stuff off him, is as he says. Type Vr6 oil cooler comes up 3rd I think
  16. There is a guy on here who does recon heads in Poland and ships to here for £500ish. Not sure with the block. Price up a bottom end recon/rebore or maybe a rebore and sleeve in the effected bore.
  17. I have a shot blasted rad support for a VR6 in very good condition. I want £150 though. Pm me your email address and I’ll send some photos to you if you’re interested. Cheers
  18. -1 camber if lowered I went for, Done 3k no problems. 27 et will cause problems with front wings if not had lips rolled vertice. I went et 38 to be real safe on 7.5”. Most go for et 35 with standard wings. Looking at those tyres after 1k my guess is -6 or more.
  19. I should think after 8 years he’s had time to sort lol
  20. Well said that man. Big corporations swallowing everything up until there is nothing else, then they abuse their position because you have no or very little choice, google, Facebook, Amazon, Uber even Apple extract as much money as possible out of you, £1000 for a phone is ridiculous and then some of the old apps on your old phone and music won’t go across because of what ever reason. Anyway, back to the point I don’t do Facebook, but the wife does - she’s really nosey
  21. Any further forward on this matey
  22. I can confirm what Si says as I bought one and is the same as the one I took off of the car. If you want it quick order direct from classic parts but the postage is horrendous.
  23. Sean’s right, I mentioned it because because the old one if not changed already will essentially be a rubber sack filled with oil. As for skittish steering I’d start with the easiest and cheapest. - R32 bushes in wishbones, track rod ends, drop links and wishbone ball joints.
