Pretty sure most classic policies have a 5k limit, limit Jon. I went through Adrian Flux too this year. Same as the OP, I have the ability to commute, all the extras and a £7k agreed value for £237. Pretty happy with that tbh.

I've tried chain and strap wrenches in the past, but if the seal hasn't been lubricated before fitting, the only way I've found affective to get it off is to drive a long screwdriver through the side about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way up all the way to the hilt, then use that as handles to turn the thing. Crude but does the job every time!

http://vr6parts.com/onlinestore/index.php/volkswagen/vr6/12-valve/12v-vr6-camshaft-set-263-street-1.html These are very well recommended amongst the Corrado community. You'll need to factor in shipping costs, but far less all in than you've seen so far.

Have you changed anything to try and diagnose it? I remember someone else here had similar, but when going through the MFA options and back to oil temp, it would be 20 degrees lower iirc. Have a search via google and you may locate the thread. Can't remember how it was solved in the end, sorry........

Haha! What's he driving now Stuart? I've got a lot of time for him actually. He came down with the kids to collect some parts a while back so we had a good chat. He's a really nice guy and it's a shame he moved on so quickly.

The slave cylinder is very cheap and easy to replace. Start there and move to master if it doesn't sort it mate.

Because Wayne started a thread in the members gallery! Tbf, mine isn't too far off his, but he was here less than a year I think!

Bit early to buy yet, but thanks for the link. :thumbleft:

Thanks Rob. I may have to hit you up for a nosey when I'm next down if you don't mind

I remember you posting pics of those disks. Unbelievable how ignorant some people are to problems with their vehicles, especially when it's something so safety critical and you have kids to think about, let alone other roads users.

I got mine from VW heritage, although they are a little pricy. If you do a search through Google, you'll find a thread where different ones have been used. They're good and pretty cheap. The only difference is they don't overlap quite as much so there can be a slight gap by the rear door cards.

Thanks for the responses guys, I've signed up to club 80-90 forum (T25 OC), and asked a similar question too. Jamie, thats great thank you! I'm definitely leaning way more to a T25 if I'm honest. Rusty, the T5 is probably a little out of the budget I was hoping. That said, looking around a bit more, a decent T4 is actually more expensive than a T25! Go figure...... Edd, I'd originally thought a late T25 TD would be the way to go, but I'm now more inclined toward the 1.9 or 2.1 petrol as it'll only have very occasional use, so economy isn't really a problem. A Diesel with a PD conversion would be ideal though. Thanks again gents, food for thought!

Why oh why do people cut holes in stuff to fit crappy bloody tweeters! :brickwall:

So I've been looking at campers recently, with a view to buy one early next year. I know its a little preemptive, but there are obviously so many options with regard to converting from a panel van, all the way up to one already fully fitted so I want to do tons of homework on what would best suit. I wouldn't mind a new project, but I expect the wife and kids would be pretty cheesed off with me if I bought one with the intention of restoring - which we probably all know can take quite some time! It depends on price (which leads onto below), but probably a T25 which needs a little work or has started to be converted, or a T4 which is ready to go but could do with updating/interior refurbishment. This is the headache I have........ Obviously the T25 are cooler - being older, but I'm a little more worried about reliability. It'll be used for its intended purpose - weekends away with the family etc so being stuck on a hard shoulder late at night with 2 young kids isn't ideal. It just seems to me its the (slightly) more affordable classic at the moment, but no doubt prices will creep up a little over the coming years. Its not an investment and its not what I'd buy if for don't get me wrong, but it would be nice if when the time comes to sell, any work would have paid for itself. Onto the T4. Obviously newer and more reliable, more comfortable to drive and "camp" in, less likely to be rotters, and cheaper. I don't think these will ever attain the status of the previous ones though and therefore no different to any other manufacturer produced camper. Is it just riding the classic VW camper wave and overpriced for what it is? Sorry if that sounds really negative toward them, I mean no disrespect and I do like them! Anyone have either or know much about them? Thanks all! :thumbleft:

It says it is in the ad.

I thought 17k was pretty optimistic, but maybe there would be someone that came along eventually and offered a few grand under. This though is just insane. I genuinely cannot see anyone paying anywhere near this, even if it is one of the top 3 in the country. Mental!!!!

Non Corrado - biut advice needed - oil light on

Sounds about right. Tell her to check for any leaks, and see what the level is at first, just in case it's anything more serious. -
It is certainly loud enough, and coupled with the flashing light you'd certainly know about it!

I've heard they all streak when wet though? I've never tried any of them, so can't say from experience but I'm regurgitating what I've read about it in the past. I did my plastics with carpro dlux yesterday. Really wish I had some before pics but the result is incredible! It's not cheap, but will last a long long time!

Just seen the ad, new series starts 9th May.

Not sure if it would make any difference to your problem, but that pressure is much too low. With running 17", you need to go a couple of psi above standard. I always inflate to 35 psi personally, as you obviously have much shallower side wall which could lead to large bumps/potholes impacting the rim or slicing through the tyre if it compresses too much.

I wouldn't go for the mega cheap ones on ebay tbh, but pretty sure they're extortionate from VW. Get decent branded ones from GSF or ECP. GSF discount code posted this morning for 49% off too.

Thats for the lambda on the rear engine mount bracket. Its a possibility for sure. The two plugs behind the gear lever are your OBD1 sockets. You can get an adapter off of ebay for literally a couple of quid to convert to obd2, so fault codes can be read. Its a little basic being OBD1, but will still make life a lot easier.

Exactly this! :thumbleft: I've obviously spent an age doing the same thing in the past, so its dead simple once you prepare for it and have a bit of cotton/string handy. The seats can be had in and out in 10 minutes, a couple of bolts to undo the seatbelts for the rear cards (and new clips help as mentioned). Front door cards are easy once you've done them before, its just finding what has to be removed and how first. (Door pin and surround, door pull surround - slide forward, 3 outer screws - stubby screwdriver for the one closest the dash, pull off grab handle cover, 2 screws for the grab handle, and the hidden screw behind it. Lift away gently, and disconnect speaker wires and window switch. Job done!).
