  1. I've got a complete late driver's side headlight you can have for nowt if you want - the reflector's a bit manky, but as far as I know, fully operational.
  2. Heh heh - notice the use of "shouldn't" I've been told that's why they warp and it seems to make sense, but dunno how true it is.
  3. Heh heh cool from the outside, but where do your speakers, window switches, etc go?
  4. How have you wired it up? The standard wiring goes head unit -> tweeter -> door If the connection to the tweeter has come off then both the tweeter and door speaker won't work. If the tweeter is working, but the door one isn't, then the tweeter->door wire is at fault.
  5. I wish I had a better understanding of the physics involved when you're braking, as I'm sure it has a lot to do with the suspension geometry and the weight distribution in the car before you start braking too. It's worth noting that brake disks don't warp just because they get hot, they warp when they get hot and then you sit stationery with the brakes on. The hot pads keep that area of the disk warm while the rest of the disk cools down in the air. This uneven cooling casues the disk to distort. Obviously if you don't get the disks that hot to start with then you're less likely to have that issue, but if you have been pressing on and put some heat into the brakes - don't sit on the brakes in traffic and the disks shouldn't warp.
  6. Yes there is a difference between early and late as the support structure under the bonnet is different. You can only get the late stuff from VW at the silly price above. If you have a search, there have been a couple of threads on this in the last month or two where people have found alternative places to get generic sheets of it from that you cut to size, but for a fraction of the cost.

    What Battery?

Yup - as SC suggested fits in nicely - a slight overhang into the engine bay on one side and the clamp on the otherside is just under the wing overhang. But seeing as that is the earth side its not really an issue. Don't know what clearances would be like on the VR though Looks like the same size one I've got in my VR without any issues. It's a bit of a squeeze to get the -ve terminal on/off, but it does just about go. I've also got a Halfords Calcium battery - it's got a 4yr warranty, so if you remember, just take it back in 3.9yrs time and get a new one :)
  8. I've always quite liked the ATS type M's on mine, but they are a bit cheap looking if you get up too close. 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfCRW_3555 (Medium).jpg[/attachment:498b1] Borbet E's are quite nice too... h8.jpg[/attachment:498b1]
  9. Careful about upgrading the rear brakes, as Blue_Joe says... if the rear brakes are working harder than the fronts then the back will step out and potentially throw you into a bush/hedge. For that reason, if your rear brakes lock before your fronts, it's an MOT failure.
  10. I do prefer the look of the e30 to be fair, its a bit more 'classic', but finding a good one is alot harder than finding a good e36 Heh heh, did you see what engine it's got in it tho ;)
  11. not worth paying over the odds for then ;) I'm finding it hard to find anything negative about them on the internet, I guess that proves they're the sort of thing I'm after :) Does that include indicators, or are they still extra? Yeah that probably goes alright  Might be a bit lairy round the twisty bits tho! :?
  12. It was only one very specific version of the F1 though and I can't remember what collection of letters it was off the top of my head. I'm sure it's been mentioned on here before tho.

    New to Chargers

W3rKD is Darren from G-Werks and sees hundreds of them so I'd go with what he says :D
  14. Aye, if you want further re-assurances - mine's like that too...

    New to Chargers

Would that be John Mayer Racing? John Mitchell of John Mitchell Racing - he's 16VG60 on here.
  16. Hah, I know we joke about it, but he really has ram-raided Halfords!

    New to Chargers

It could be John from JMR? Might be worth giving them a call to see if it's one of his chargers?
  18. I went in convoy to Le Mans with a bunch of Exiges. The new ones have Toyota engines in and are very reliable, but the K-Series ones do have a habit of consuming their head gaskets. We came referred to them as "moteur du fromage"
  19. Don't have my ETKA with me, but have you tried a good douse of switch cleaner and/or electrical contact cleaner? Usually does the trick...
  20. The linkage parts stay connected by interference fit bearings - once they wear out they get too loose and just fall apart. When mine broke, I tried cable tying the two bits together, which sort of worked for a bit, but not very well. Sadly, best bet is to get the mech replaced asap :(
  21. I'm fairly sure VAG still sell them, but not sure what the price is like :?
  22. I reckon it's still probably easier to get into than the back of a Corrado tho!

    DDI dials

If you want a proper black and have a graphics package that can mix CYMK colours, use black and then add 20% or so cyan to it.
  24. Well it looks like none of the cage actually extends forwards of the B-pillar, so loads of room to get into the passenger seat
