Got my other alloys done at the same time as the Vento Speedlines- there is a price war going on in the powder coating world of Birmingham and for OE silver your looking at £30.00 an alloy complete strip and paint- believe it or not that is the best company as some are as low as £20 .00- £15.00 an alloy. Going to give a big shout out to the BBS RX226 - every bit a good looking alloy as the vento and perfect for a rado at 7J x 16 x 5 x 100. Alloys with original caps.

Engine so what failed that lead to a rebuild ? So attached is three valves that are slightly bent (can't tell off picture) - if you put the end in a drill and pressed the button each one will shake all over the place This would of led to at least 40 percent less power in each cylinder affected due to lack of compression. The valve guides were also off shape- valve seals no good- and were way past good- the cylinders had slight ovulation. What I will say anyone with a engine that has covered 150k and thinks that just changing the valve seals is a fix to smokey exhaust dream on -. The head was in perfect condition. The last owner had a firm called John Austin VW Specialist in Colchester do the timing chain in 2018 only about 6k miles ago- charged £1,620.00 have receipt. Inspection of there work after removal of the timing chain trim was reported as very poor and incorrect- so I would look else where if your in that part of the country, make your way to a specialist like Stealth instead.

Sounds like the feed fuel pipe from filter to engine bay No 8 on diagram and part number 535201374. http://www.oemepc.com/vw/part_single/catalog/vw/markt/RDW/modell/COR/year/1995/drive_standart/76/hg_ug/201/subcategory/69000/part_id/3687212/lang/e#sec_8

That is a great buy for someone - the speedline caps will cost probably about £40.00 for a set- they are from the same family of race wheels as the Vento you can see that from just looking at them- they are 7J vento are 7.5 but that makes no odds.
-
These look similar but with a central concave dome. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-MIM-BY-SPEEDLINE-ULTIMO-16-ALLOY-WHEELS-5X100-SUBARU-IMPREZA-RACE-RALLY/124119976668?hash=item1ce6208adc:g:qIkAAOSw0Vteb4xC

Thanks TD - that's 1-1 all then because I want some recaro ha.
-
Im going to find it hard to enjoy them because Dox you are making me feel guilty ha- tell you what if you can put my misses through your miracle chemical bath and she comes out looking brand new with a three year warranty we can make a deal ha!
-
Sneak peek back from the powder coaters. . Minute strech on the trye using 205.

Nice looking motor and welcome to the forum. Like your early recaro seats- was that stock leathers in that you had before? Think you have also got some speedline corse - are they 17 ?
-
The bottom picture is correct I have never come across the other bracket in your hand, is there a part number on it?
-
It had a Vibratechnic mount on before and that sat a little lower I guess - prob a mistake swapping it out for a stock one but I wanted to experience the ride on stock mounts- going to cut a little more away and have some paint with correct code and tidy it up- just one of those slight issues as the Schrick was designed for a Mk3 bay I believe. I imagine the VSR no under cutting needed on the bonnett ?
-
All ready a cut on the underside of the bonnet when it was fitted in the car in 2003 - you can also see on the left front corner some chaffing from the bonnet when some new engine mounts were fitted and raised the engine a little.
-
That looks in good condition- nice to see it has the original pant code sticker in place, See that black metal clip that houses the blue solenoid normally (first and second picture)- if you google that part number of that clip it does not exist on etka or not on VW Classics - so keep it safe ha.
-
Thanks Cressa much appreciated.
-
Went for a stock look on the Schrick - she is nearly ready to go back in the bay. Pictures attached.
-
To be fair though you will learn a hell of lot doing it your way.
-
Thanks Tone cant bloomin wait and I have the vento cups to fit so going to get a nice few pics together of her.
-
Thanks ABV It is a huge part owning a Classic car for me having a specialist garage as it can have a major experience on ownership having a good mechanic on board. I have some receipts from 2003 for my Schrick been fitted by Vince from the previous owner so I imagine it was purchased on a group buy off here ? He has been looking after the car off and on for the last 20 years !!!
-
Sure chap should be ready to collect after lockdown lifts- few other little jobs as well - spoiler is playing up loose connection somewhere.
-
Engine update and pictures. Vince is working solo at the moment due to the current restrictions which has been a bonus really for me because it means he has personally hand built my engine on his own . Sent me some pictures today and thought I would share. Extremely happy with Vinces work.

The only thread I would like to see open to non members is parts or cars for sale because we can all benefit from that , somehow none members can not reply to the advert only the poster and members ????- all other threads should have no access.
-
Cosworth ones wont look correct either as look more bloated and armchair like. The BMW LS ones that have pointer bolsters look more correct because they are slim line with taught leather.
-
Thanks mate Im been proactive as I can and asking the right questions when I see a set, a lot of these seats went into MK2 golfs as they liked the fact they sat a lot lower and were cheaper then a set of 16V recaro ones back in the day - seen quite a few threads 2000 -2005 on the GTI forum saying they are the cheapest option ha !

Wow what a transformation !
