  1. I know mate, unfortunately I didn't get a final photoshoot with it and my last day in uniform was last Wednesday so no chance of it now. That isn't the reason for the sale btw, I've secured another job.

  3. The whole series is on Nat Geo, it'll be on eventually! Lol
  4. I have a new (well its about 6 years old now) stat and it still sits at 70 though. Its stamped on the thermostat what temp it opens at - usually 87. I'd first check if it raises above 70 when sat idling then drops down when cruising. As Shaun above says, if this along with taking an age to get to 70 is apparent, its likely thermostat.
  5. Ha, reminded me we had similar to this on the 1 Series. Had a flywheel changed under warranty, and about a week later there was a knocking when pulling away that got progressively worse. Turns out they hadn't tightened the prop shaft up and there were only 2 bolts left loosely in place. The rest were bent to buggery rattling around on the undertray.
  6. Love this build, great stuff Graham! Glad to hear the wife is on the mend too. 👍
  7. Well, at least it's soldered and had been insulated (even if somewhat badly!). When I got mine, the stereo kept cutting out / going silent. Upon investigation, the speaker wires were just twisted together and had no insulation, so were shorting together as well as all over the body. There were remnants from 3 alarms that had been removed as well which had been left in various states of disrepair and parts dangling all over the place behind the dash and fuse box. I had to replace every internal loom as it was more work to repair than remove the entire interior and replace.
  8. Thought you'd sorted your heater matrix and replaced the foam in the box... No need for a night heater in the Corrado, unless your other half has kicked you out! 😆
  9. Good stuff, I may do that for completeness before sale. The filter to bay hose has already been replaced with new genuine. 👍
  10. Did you use a sleeve on the inside of the hard plastic pipe (like no#5 above)? I'd be concerned it would deform when the rubber hose was put on and tightened causing a leak.
  11. Quickest I've owned is the Corrado. Not had the need for a fast daily driver so that's as good as it gets. Fastest I've been in AND most interesting, a 993 Turbo my Grandad owned in the late 90s. Still make the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end now, and an absolutely thrilling and fear inducing ride in equal measure.
  12. Easier said than done unfortunately. In all honesty, that's just one of the reasons though. The major bug bear is actually getting it out of the garage! First I have to remove loads of stuff that's in the way, then as the doors are on the long corner;. |-------------/. \--| |--------------------| (Sorry for the crap diagram!) I've got to drive forward and turn into the door, then use wheel dollies to shift the back round, drive forward a bit more, and dolly round again just to squeeze it out. The section near the door slopes down too, and I had one moment where the chocks on the front wheels slid whist I was shifting the back round, which in a mad panic I managed to keep pushing the back and just cleared the edge of the door by centimetres as it rolled forward. It's about a 45 minute evolution just to get it out. Then I've got to get it back in again. 🙄
  13. Thanks Martin. Yeah I'm surprised at finally admitting it to myself too!. I used it once out of necessity last year, and don't have much desire to use it this year either. Every time the kids go in the garage to get their bikes, or go into the loft space where they have a play room I'm on edge, so it's causing more anxiety than pleasure! That's no reflection of its reliability btw, it's just too good now and the only way I'd be happy is if it was in a massive carcoon in the middle of a hangar!
  14. Nope, the car. Been debating it for about 2 years now so it's time to let it go.... I'll put a sale and up next week.
  15. MOT booked for Monday and service items including a new set of HT leads on the way. I've also bought a Dubpower front resonated pipe as the one on the car is non-res. Options for any potential buyer..... Yes, it'll be for sale shortly. 😥
  16. A replacement ECU will also necessitate coding out the immobiliser as well, unless you get the ring and keys with it..... Sorry I can't help with you problem.
  17. Haha, I've done this a few times! Bought new parts then discovered I actually previously bought them and forgotten about it! 😣
  18. When I bought the Bilstein B12s back in 2014, I had to get the correct spring cups and a full set of top mounts etc.... I deployed in April 15 and hadn't got round to fitting them by then. As I didn't get back til December anyway, I think I finally fitted them in February 2016 - approx 18 months after buying them! As it turned out, they had the incorrect rear springs. After getting the replacements via Demon Tweeks (great service considering time between buying), I SORNd the car until July 20, when I finally put the correct springs on and put the car back on the road!
  19. I actually bought what was supposed to be a good low mileage ABS pump with pipes and reservoir recently. Pump turned out to be toast but the reservoir is in really good shape and very clean in comparison to mine so it'll be going on shortly. 😁
  20. It's just a thin piece of metal in a V shape, with one side of the V glued to the 'clam shell' and acting as a kind of spring on the flap part. You should be able to fashion something fairly easily.
  21. Welcome aboard! Love an 8v, bullet proof cars and hope you're enjoying ownership. Why not start a members gallery thread so we can see some pics, and you can document the work you've done. 👍
