  1. I too, really like them in black. Mine are getting powder coated right now. Which lines did you buy? It's going to look fantastic! Can't wait to see them installed, cheers!
  2. Merry Christmas to all of you! This community is amazing. Cheers
  3. Well, it's one more step towards victory mate! I call this kind of work "behind the scene" it gives you a great piece of mind feeling but it's tedious, takes a lot of time and no one will see it after completion. I too used satin finish spray paint, I did on the grills on top of the dash where the air goes to the windscreen, they were kind of brown with the sun beating on them for years... Anyways, keep it up and happy holidays!
  4. Yes, you sure can sit back and enjoy Christmas now, well deserved! It's coming up so nicely, well done. Did you install the engine just by yourself? Thanks for the precision on the alternator, I may just mask and paint it as well. Take care, cheers!
  5. Yes, I'm sticking with standard induction. The VR6 is made to run hot anyway right. Everything is going to be new and oem so the system will be in good working order. Thanks fir your reply, much appreciated!
  6. I know this is an old thread... I'm debating of installing a new oem cooler or that mocal. Any thoughts? Do or don't? Cheers
  7. So Keyo, you're happy with the MGR parts? I was thinking of ordering a few things a while back but wasn't sure. That part: 021 905 163. I'll check here if it's available and if it is, I'll fix the problem! Cheers
  8. Thanks mates, really appreciate the support! Sean, I guess instead of saying flush fit, maybe I should have said that I wanted 1/2" poke with the wheels. I hope it will work because that would be a huge and costly mistake... That's what it was recommended by them... We'll see but in a while! Cheers!
  9. And on to the last update! I was itching of doing something cosmetic for a while and I did... I installed those new OEM roof strips (very pricey to get here) it was stressful! And for you mates it's not a huge deal but for me getting those here is very hard and expensive. I had to sell a couple of Hardy fly reels I had lol. So merry Christmas to me, I bought myself my dream wheels. The Schmidt Modernline. I don't know why but these are the only ones I want for my car. I mean, I would love BBS LM if they came in 16" but they don't. Anyways, I didn't wanted to go crazy with 9" and super stretched tires, I want a clean look, flush fit kind of thing. So I ordered them in 7.5 all around ET 25. I'll install 195/45 for a very mild stretch and probably with a 5mm spacer and the rear. I thought of ordering two in ET 20 for the rear but that would have prevented me from rotating my tyres. And last point, I got my parts ready for powder coating. I sanded, filed, wire wheeled them to get the optimal finish out of them. I'm starting with the front for now. Driver Edition 288mm calipers & carriers, dust shields, controls arms, knuckles... Can't wait to see them done. Meanwhile I'll work on the steering rack, axles while I'm waiting for the parts I ordered for the rear brakes. Cheers to all of you!
  10. Thanks mate! Wow I didn't knew that it came has a factory option. That's even better and thanks for letting me know! Cheers
  11. And.... up to the next update! Next after the interior, I've been working from the bottom up. Everything is remove in the engine bay. I started with my conversion from ABS to non-ABS. First the ABS has only one line that goes to the rear and I decided to install two lines for safety sake. -I bought everything new: ATE booster, ATE master cylinder upgraded from 22.5mm to 23.8mm for added braking power, ATE master cylinder. -I also sourced an OEM brake reservoir and cap. This was my first time making brake lines. I have to say, I quite enjoyed it. I do some plumbing here and there at work so I tough it was kind of similar. I made a cheap brake line straightener with bearings from Amazon and left over hard maple from the stairs, worked fantastic!
  12. Well mates, I have some progress to post and that feels good to see my dream car progressing in the direction that I want it to go. The dashboard is back in the car and that's a huge relief. It was sad looking... -My refurbished HVAC box is back in. -Every wires were sorted, re-wrapped with Tesa tape. -Sourced a brand new OEM RPM gauge dial to swap with the auto one. That allowed me to keep my original cluster and getting rid of the window with the P/N/D. No trace of auto anymore. -Source an OEM 12V lighter trim without the A/C buttons for a clean install. -Hardest part was to find the HVAC control panel late spec LHD without the A/C writing on it... Now, there's no more sign of A/C previously install for a clean install. -I bought a VW Gamma III radio refurbished to go in there. -I have a master plan for the shift boot and knob and also for the e-brake. More on this once sorted out! -I bought an Italvolanti Corsa 4 spokes to remove the airbag steering wheel. I feel like that this steering wheel is not a good fit for the Corrado and I like the old school look...
  13. I was going to order from a seller in Germany as he has the newer version of the kit. It's a mix between OEM VW and Febi and the price is right but it's back ordered as of this weekend!
  14. Yes, I did read afterwards in your other thread that the parts were being installed... Bummer for the radiator! Too bad they don't make them anymore... I like the steering wheel for the MK2, nice one! I did get an Italvolanti Corsa 4 spoke for my car. Cheers!
  15. I love that blue color, it's going to be nice mate!
  16. I think you're making the right decision, Speedlines for winter and BBS for summer.
  17. That carbon part is totally amazing, I'm impressed! I really like the carbon fiber look, it's a nice touch. I'm thinking of getting my alternator powder coated, was it straight forward when you pulled your apart? Keep up the amazing work! Cheers
  18. That's going to be a nice rear end ha haa! You sourced all of that from Heritage mate? When are you planning on doing this?
  19. I did sourced a MK4 tensioner bolt, it's the only part I have so far! So from what I can see, I have two options: -One, i get a full Febi kit -Two, I get all the bits and parts OEM VW from the dealer and combine this with IWIS chains. IWIS was the manufacturer for VW chains so it should be good? Thanks for helping as usual!
  20. Thanks to you two! For sure I won't install anything cheap or chinese and I agree and stay away from JP Group or Topran. When buying after market parts, I stick with Mayle, Febi, IWIS, Victor Reinz... Never heard of SWAG before looking into this? That said, I've ordered parts from Meyle that were made in Germany and I bought Sachs, Febi, Hella that were made in China... Obviously I don't want to cheap out on something that important... It looks like aside from the chains and the upper slide rail, I can get everything else from the dealer. I just don't know if I should source those 3 from Febi or IWIS let's say and mix them with the VW OEM stuff or just get a full kit Febi. Is it ok to mix, should I stick with just one brand?
  21. I got all the Polo parts of eBay brand new. Source the parts separately, I found it cheaper than buying seller's pre made kits....
  22. Happy to help! I wanted to add something as well about the selector tower. I've heard from someone who made the conversion that it is possible to cut the tower with an hacksaw to clear the coolant hose. While this may not be the most elegant way to do it, it works and cost nothing. One could do that while waiting for a short shift kit to arrive as well if the car is a daily driver... One last thing I need to say is I've heard also that there's two shifter cable colors. Some are white ( first generation) and some are black (second generation and I think from 2001 or 2002 and up) Anyways the year is not important, the important part to remember is that apparently the black ones have a very easy way to be adjusted and the extremities are replaceable. I also heard there was a slight difference in length and the black one suits better the Corrado but don't quote me on this as I have not verify this info myself. To be sure and simplify things, just get the black ones! And if someone wants to go the route I went with all new parts, here's the list. If those parts are purchase from VW, then you have a brand new shifter box... And also, that leaves you to source only the two shifter cables (for the car side of the conversion) brief the cost of the parts vs a used box may be not so far apart depending of your source... That's what I did and I picked up the transmission side ( bracket, tower ) from the breaker. 1J0711112E - Shift Lever 1J0711699 - Bearing 1J0711067K - Bushing 1J0711067Q - Bushing 1J0711124 - Bushing 357711145C - Pressure Spring 1J0711047 - Sound Absorber 1J0711067L x2 - Bushings on transmission side 1J0711077B - Pin N 10459201 - T25 Torx Screw 1J0711565 - Cover N 90848201 x2 - T20 Torx Screws N 90815903 - x4 Locking Clip 1J0711280B x4 - Clips for cables (2 on the box and 2 on cable bracket on transmission) N 90833001 x2 - Locking Clips for Cables
  23. I'm in the process of sourcing all the parts for the chains job. I contacted my VW dealer today to find out that half the parts needed are NLA. Originally VW (according to 7zap) used IWIS and Sachs. Now looking at eBay I see Febi, SWAG, JP group and a bunch of other AM manufacturer... What do you mates use? Any brands in the aftermarket preferred? Any kit on eBay that are worth buying? Thanks for helping out! Cheers
  24. This is what you need from both the Polo and MK4: Polo Parts(Required for direct Corrado tunnel fitment) 6N0-711-061-A - Polo box housing 6N0-711-090-A - Ground plate 6N0-711-611-C - Selector arm (L-Bracket) 020-945-415-A - 02J to 02A reverse light switch adapter MK4 02J Parts (Any Mk4 5 Speed 02J (1.8T/VR6/2.0/1.9TDI) Shifter Box Shifter Cables 02J Cable bracket Selector tower I've heard more than a few time that the selector tower interfere with the coolant hose so I bought a short shift kit that replaces it. On mine, I purchased all new bits from VW (all still available) and not that expensive. The shifter is installed and the Polo fits on the Corrado like it was meant to be. Hope this helps! Cheers
  25. Those rubber mats are very nice, never seem them before!
