  1. You know mate, in my case it make sense to do it now since I have to remove the auto stick anyways... May as well doing it right the first time! There's seems to be a general consensus that the 02A shifter is not super precise/sloppy/row boat feeling and the 02J conversion makes it short & tight and "modern". Other thing too, I personally like that the shift lever sits a tad more rearwards and is taller too, I think it's more ergonomic with this setup in a Corrado. I also ordered the Sigma5 short shift kit from dieselgeek and apparently it's night and day! Plus you lose the big shift weight tower from the 02J that bumps into the coolant hoses... Cheers!
  2. Alright mates, I had a few days off between contracts and I made some progress! -Electrical from auto to manual is sorted out, a HUGE thanks to Hassan for all the links and help! -ABS unit and wiring is out ready for my non-ABS swap. -A/C hole in the firewall blocked with an OEM MK2 plate that I finished with POR15 -While the fuse box was out, I decided to swap my bonnet cable. No issues but I know these break and I call it preventive maintenance. It's a heavy duty gauge wire and the trumpets are aluminum and huge! -The manual pedal cluster that I sprayed with POR15 and news pedal pads is installed, woohoo! -Started to put together my 02J shifter with the Polo box, all new everything. Waiting for my order from dieselgeek to finish it off. A special thanks to Fendervg and gurby28 for sharing info and electrical diagrams. Now I have pdf of everything ABV 95 related. Just need to learn German lol. That community is awesome! Cheers mates
  3. Thank you so much Hasan, that's super nice of you! I can't download what you posted on my phone but as soon as I get home I will be looking at it! Very thankful! Cheers JF
  4. Thanks mate, really appreciate this! I know you've done the conversion as well. That's what I'm trying to figure out if I can just remove it or need to swap for another relay? Cheers!
  5. Thanks Fla! Do you know when a car is manual what number relay it would be? Or there's just no relay at all for a manual? Thank you!
  6. Ok so today I'm trying to figure out one of my issue which is knowing for sure what's what in my fuse box. I compared what I have with the Bentley 94+. Anyone who has a clue to help me out, please pitch in! Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers! 1)A/C relay, I'm surprise there's nothing there because the car has A/C? 2)rear window wiper (72) this is correct. 3)ECM power relay, Bentley says should be #32 or 30 but I have 109? 4)load reduction, Bentley says #18 but I have 100? 5)engine coolant level (43) surprised to see nothing there? 6)emergency flasher (21) this is correct 7)headlight washer (33) ok, I don't have that 8)washer & wiper front (#19 or 99) that's correct 9)seat belt warning for Canada (4)ok, I don't have that 10)fog light relay (53) that's correct. 11)dual horn (53) that's correct. 12)fuel pump (67) I have 167 that should be right? 14)im not sure but in the Bentley the only #150 is for park/neutral. This is one thing that I'm wondering about? First, am I right? But second is the #150 universal for auto and manual? 15) is a #53 and I have no idea what it is. In the Bentley non of the relay from 13 to 24 have a #53. Only thing I could speculate is my airbags? Not even sure they have a relay tbh. 16) the fuse #20 at this position I speculate that it must be the back up light fuse for the auto transmission?
  7. Well, I ended finding it relatively cheap used on amazon so I ordered it! Thanks!
  8. Also I forgot thank you for the info on the Peter russek book. I think I may pass has its pretty expensive for me to get and probably not worth its weight. Thanks again!
  9. Oh it is a shame! I remember reading Dennis articles back in the days like 15 years ago when I was dreaming about owning a Corrado. Back then, I could not afford one. Everything was there, that was the bible with pictures. I was and still are so disappointed that it is gone... I do have a saved pdf of the "how to" dash removal for the heater core, that was gold to have when I did it...
  10. So Corrado and MK3 Bentleys and that Lindsay porter one, I've never heard of before. Any good?
  11. Yes, I do think there was about 200 of those 1995 Corrado imported to North America and they were all sent to Canada. Mine was built for Germany and sent to Japan (Japanese spec car with LHD configuration and ABV engine). I guess looking into a MK3 Bentley, the wiring diagram should be in there?
  12. Oh, I bought it straight from the auction and did all the paper work/inspections required. Prior to the Corrado I had imported a Japanese truck for my business so I kind of had the hang of it!
  13. Thanks to both of you for your time, much appreciated. I was looking at that Peter Russek manual as well. Please let me know once you get it if you think it's worth it. Ok, so if someone gets a 16V Corrado per example, they would use a MK2 Bentley then? I know there is not a ton of difference between AAA and ABV and mostly the ABV is simplified compared to the AAA due to less regulations at the time of making. Like my car didn't have the EGR or that big recirc thing in the front of the engine per example. Here's what's giving me a headache, all of it is electrical related... And also probably due to lack of experience, this is my first Corrado. -My car being a 1995, it has 2 airbags and I can't find that in the Bentley. (Want to delete) -When I look at my fuse box, it's not exactly like the 94+ in the Bentley so I don't know for sure what does what. (Fuses it's ok, it's the relays that I would like to know 100% and not guess) -Looking at my ignition wiring loom, compared to a 94, I have an extra grey wire, Bentley does not have any grey wire in the diagram. -I would like to have the proper wiring loom diagram for e-codes my car came with. I know they are not wired the same way as the NA ones. These are a few things for now that I'm encountering a problem with... Any of you has a clue for me? Cheers!
  14. So I'm facing a few issues, mostly electrical. The "bible" here in Canada is the Corrado Bentley shop manual. But being US issued, it does not cover the 1995 Corrados nor the ABV engine. The Bentley is for AAA engine and up till 1994 and the G60 1990/92 only. So I'm wondering what do you mates use to repair your Corrados? Any electrical diagrams for ABV 1995? Any UK "bible" to troubleshoot the Corrado? There's got to be something else available than what I have with all the different versions that were offered in Europe... Thanks in advance for your help, cheers!
  15. That is really nice info Keyo! That VSR is really nice! One day I'll go to Japan and I'll do all the junk yard ;) Thanks for sharing, cheers!
  16. Thank you! The MK2 cabin filter in case you would be tempted is part: Housing 191 819 640 + Filter 191 819 638 Your dad and half brothers they did the opposite of me! I went from the East coast to the West coast! I sure do know Sault Sainte Marie and I've been on the West coast for 15 years now. I lived in Vancouver for over 9 years and also did a bunch of contracts in White Rock. So ya, big country but still a small world! Cheers mate. BTW, your car is amazing, keep it up!

    Massive fail.

On my car it held the 4 years I had it but it was on that original fragile foam board the car came with. And also it was white with the grey velvet interior, not black on black... Mate, I would be very happy to help you out if there's something that you want and I can get it here in Canada, I'll manage to send it to you at no extra cost. Let me know!
  18. So nice to read that! Very happy for you. It's true, that must feel kind of "weird" to have it completed, almost unreal. That was a really well executed project. I was looking at the pictures again, those seats are soooo nice! Drive it, enjoy it, well deserved. Cheers

    Massive fail.

I've done this long time ago on my GTI 16V. All I did and it was a total success was after I took it out, I ripped the last of the fabric. I went to a fabric store and bought something that was a tad stretchy (nothing crazy like swim suit fabric) it look like some kind of black alcantara light fabric. I glued it using 3M super 77 spray glue. Then cut off the over fabric, reinstall and it was perfect. Have you tried that glue, it's the best! Hopefully it helps, cheers
  20. Omg!!! Congrats mate, what a turn around! Most have been an emotional roller coaster! The night is going to be loooooong!
  21. Thanks! Ya I think it's worth it, wouldn't want to frame walls on a rotten foundation. I know the heater core and switch would give me issues in the future plus it's a good way to see if all is good under the dash board as well... Shaun, I do have the ignition switch wiring loom from a manual and like you I'm tempted to just swap it out... There's only one version of the ignition switch (for both auto and manual) so I'm assuming it is all about the wiring? Maybe the relay too? I have a 150 (I think it's the one for ignition) what do you guys have? If I could find a pdf of the wiring and fuse box of my car that would help I guess... Also, after opening that HVAC box and noticing how much stuff was in there. I decided to source an oem MK2 cabine filter bracket and filter that came on Asian VW. Supposedly it's bolt on so that will be a nice upgrade for quality of air and keeping the HVAC box clean in the future...
  22. Well... I guess it's time for an overdue update! I haven't work as much on it as I wanted but work as been busy and with the uncertainty of this world, I better work while there's still work... I hope you all mates are doing well and hanging in there! So I've been doing the dreading/behind the scene kind of work. Nothing pretty! But I want to start from the base up in the project so there's no regrets later. I took the dash out in order to get to the HVAC box. I had no problem with the heater core but I wanted to change it before I get the issue and the car is all nicely done... I opted for the all metal Passat B4 heater core for peace of mind. I cleaned up the box inside and out, redone all the doors, greased, looks pristine. What else? Changed the ignition lock too. I'm thinking of not reinstalling the passenger airbag as it freaks me out more than it makes me feel safe. I had sourced a glove box and was all happy to swap it but the way the bracket are made for the airbag do not make it possible to install the glove box. So I'll just reinstall the airbag cover without the airbag underneath... I will be deleting the steering wheel one as well since a different wheel will be installed. I guess now I'm at the most dreading part of my project, the electrical part... While the dash is out I think it would be the right time to redo what I have to redo. Remember the car is automatic? I have bought all OEM 02J shifter part and polo box. I have the pedal cluster, brief everything to do the swap. But I struggle understanding the wiring diagrams, my Bentley cover 90/94 Corrados only, mine is ABV 95 so it's not making things easier. What do you guys use to trouble shoot your 95 2.9L VR6 cars? I don't even have the proper diagram for the fuse box... I need to figure out how and which wires I can remove to make the swap. I would love to simplify things... Like my ignition per example, I have a 94 manual wiring loom that I could swap but I need to understand the diagrams first so I know what works or not. My best friend on the other side of the country where I grew up (Québec) he's the master at electrical and he was supposed to come give me a hand sorting all of this out but with covid it's making it impossible for us to meet anymore... He's 6 hours flight and a 3 hours ferry away, forget it with covid! Anyways, I can't wait to get this part behind me and start tackling nice little mission to do on the car... You guys take care, Cheers!
  23. Love the double garage, looks sharp. I really like the colour combo and the front posts showing as well. Nice design, cheers!
  24. I totally agree with you, otherwise what's the point of insurance? I've been working on things here and there on the car but kind of work behind the scene... Like I redone the HVAC box, pulled the dash, heater core. You know stuff you don't feel like doing but have too... I'm a contractor and summer are very busy so I didn't have that much time... I should do an update though... Thanks for asking! Cheers JF
