  1. was a good feeling and has sunk in now Insured for £212 which I didnt think was too much considering all my no claims are on the other car so this is starting from scratch Not taxed yet as I am to tight to pay for a whole month when there are only a couple of days left so tax will start on 1st May when it will officially hit the road. First meet will be a CCGB Norfolk/Suffolk meet on the 8th then gonna try Beetle juiced on the 21st, will see how it runs before I venture much further 🤣
  2. A genius idea, I take my hat off to you
  3. Still a little in shock today but yesterday it passed the MOT 😝 Couple of things that the drive to the test centre highlighted, the front suspension is a bit crashy, the rear tyres catch the arches and for some reason the oil pressure reading has gone a bit wrong but I'll get onto those
  4. Thanks Sean, I hope you are right 🙂 Added a couple of other bits today, Mudflaps to the rear to go with those on the front and a small reversing camera that will be shown on the display
  5. Few finishing touches prepping for the MOT Dash assembled And a little naughty, but took it for a drive round the block to be sure it actually drove ok Will book it for an MOT this week, if all goes well with that I'll flat and polish the rest of the paint
  6. Quickest I've owned is the 6R I have now, but the old 3dr Cossie was reasonable Quickest I have been in would be a Bugatti Chiron and a Veyron, 200mph on german autobahn and a bit more on the Ehra test track and a short outing in a AML Valkyrie Quickest I've driven would be a McLaren Senna or 720s, Aston Vantage GT12 Untitled by Graham Ursell, on Flickr Click on the video above and turn up the sound, it was a development car with Floud written on the rear 'silencer' All in a days work 🙂
  7. end of an era for you as well as us 😞
  8. And this was the week before 🙂 And shared the plane out with these 2 Danny Ric and Lando Norris for those who are unsure 🙂
  9. This week I have been away again, Unfortunately it was OEM day on track so only a couple of Volvo's and BMW's going round which wasn't the experience I wanted 😞
  10. Once again its been a while since my last update, its not been a great start to the year with my wife spending 4 weeks in hospital with sepsis, strangely, most people seemed to think I'd of spent every night in the garage but reallity really knocks the wind out of you. But she is out now and recovering well so I took some time today to fit my keyless ignition system. I have started by fitting an RFID immobilisor that is powered when the alarm is deactivated and sends power to the MoTeC display. I have a switch wired into the MoTeC and have put a whole load of logic into the display to allow me to remove the ignition key completely and start it using the push switch instead/ Made a video of it today, not sure how Flikr is working these days so you'll probably need to click on it to see 🤷‍♂️ Just need to tidy all the wiring up now and put the dash back together

    Covering trim pieces

My first attempt at covering was the roof lining which I did with faux alcontara and that stretched enough to follow the contours around the visor recesses. Give it a go and find out how much stretch you have in the material you have. I have used a few spray adhesives and most have been rubbish, this is the best I have found so far https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/113693893436? You will mess things up when you do it so make sure you buy enough for your mistakes 😉 I also found that the plastic panels have like the A, B and C panels have a covering on them that is easily removed and makes it better to glue to, its a guess, but I assume the glove bos will be the same
  12. Taken from the CCGB face book page being arranged by Pete that some of you may know Sunday 8th May Building on the success on the last few events I’ve decided to run another ‘Norfolk/Suffolk’ meet for the club. Venue: Old Ram Coaching Inn, Ipswich Rd, Norwich NR15 2DE (https://www.theoldramnorfolk.co.uk) Kick off: 9am This has been a very well attended event in past with 25-30 cars on show. Although called the Norfolk/Suffolk meet, I must stress that this is open to EVERYONE wherever you live in the country! So if you fancy ‘blowing the cobwebs’ off the old girl as we approach ‘show season’ it would be great to see you! As usual the venue will have teas, coffees and bacon rolls on the go should you wish to purchase. As far as COVID goes I don’t anticipate any restrictions but I will engage with the venue closer to the time and communicate through this event page if we have to comply with any if their requirements. hope to see you there!
  13. nice and shiney. I've been stripping all the headlights I had in the garage and found 1 with a decent mirror finish 😞 still, half way there
  14. Feature was in 98, be lucky if the car survived let alone the pods, shame they covered the plate so cant check it Prestige doesn't look to exist any more and bbg Distribution looks to have moved on to AV under a new name of peerless AV https://eu.peerless-av.com// Maybe they still have info on it
  15. Prestige car audio did the install and I assume they were bespoke door pods made in house
  16. Was going through the piles of old magazines I have and noticed one of the 'Car Stereo' mags had a Corrado on the front, that obviously sparked my interest so though I'd share I'm not convinced the sub box is the best looking I have seen but the door builds have given me an idea of what I need to do to mine
  17. certainly does scrub up well. What gas struts you gone for under the bonnet?
  18. I split the base from the mirror cap to spray them, there is a heavy duty spring that holds them together, I used the stud and nuts to compress the spring so the 2 parts could be split
  19. Thanks to Seanl82 for the links, I have refreshed the roof strips, couple of poor quality before and after pics Annoyingly, during their storage, I have managed to break the front of one of the strips so will be looking for another at some point but no rush Added the side repeaters to the mirrors Stripping and rebuilding the mirrors was quite simple using a peice of 6mm stud and a couple of nuts with built in washers
  20. All speakers are CDT, they'll be powered by Genesis amps https://www.cdtaudio.com/
  21. Moved the leccy window switch Not 100% happy with the handbrake button, will most likely put a surround round it for now
  22. V5 has finally arrived, yay 🙂 so now on a push to get it ready for an MOT Not much left to do for the MOT, so started finishing and putting the interior in Alarm and separate immobiliser are fitted, Rear seats and rear cards all in Due to the electric handbrake I dont need the old lever so there is a large hole in the centre consul, well not anymore, all filled and changed to be a recess for inductive phone charging The gear select surround had to be raised to accommodate the DSG selector Had to cover the whole lot so now matches the roof lining and pillars Yes, thats the wifes phone to demo, that why there is a photo of my son on it Needed to make a small flap that lifts up for access to the fixing screw
  23. E5 is not good for cars, my 6R needed new injectors because the plastic filters inside the injector got broken down by the ethonal and blocked the holes making it run weak and missfire... not good on a mapped engine Gonna be interesting to see how long before the big bills start for everyone that uses the e10
  24. splashing the cash 😄 nice original touch
  25. Getting a little peed off with the DVLA now, sent the V5 to them on 27th May and it still has not been updated 😡 They have received it and apparently they started looking at it on 21st July and it can take 6 weeks from that point. They better not send it back not updated with a problem
