  1. Are these not symmetrical? Ie, fit both sides by just flipping them over? Heritage lists them for both sides, with the same part number as VAGCAT/Partsbase lists them for just the VR6 left side. :scratch:
  2. Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear about your woes, but the 2.8 12v should be plentiful so easy to source, and a straight swap. The 2.8 24v from a mk4 GTI has been done quite a few times, and the R32 is can also be done with a little bit of effort.   6. The VR6 standard calipers are the exact same, so widens your search and you don't need to pay a premium because they're "G60"

  8. They probably just don't keep them in stock John. They get them from Classic Parts in Germany, and they have a delivery every 2-3 weeks. They'll just order one from there when required.
  9. Obsolete from VW but available from classic parts through VW Heritage at £185. About a 3 week wait too.

  11. Yeah it was with the engine warm, but instead of idling at around 1050 rpm, as soon as the good one went in it was perfect at 650-700 rpm. Went straight back up to 1050 again as soon as I put mine back on. I'm gonna PM Thursdave on here now to see what he can do a new genuine one for.

  13. Yeah sorry John, bloody predictive text, it's meant to be isv. Is it the Bosch one you got from ECP that didn't make any difference? I'd take Ian up on that offer if I were you. A known good one will absolutely prove it at least.
  14. Massive thanks to 'harrier', just popped round his and he let me swap out the sub with his good one. Vagcom doesn't lie, it was.instantly better so the new cheap isv is rubbish. I'll return that one and get a new Bosch one. Think they're around the £250 Mark from VW so I'll try to source one elsewhere. May try Ford!
  15. Distilled/de ionised water is better, and its cheap if you go to the diy/car isle in the supermarket.

  17. On earlier models yes, donut is located on the king lead for the dizzy. The VR6 has two and are bolted to the engine block. One front, one rear.
  18. You're probably right, but I don't think I've ever come across that - EVER! They're usually just spliced in where fitters can find easy access, then twisted onto the existing loom and covered with electrical tape! For the more thorough fitter, they're soldered on.

  20. I replaced almost every loom on my car last year due to a history of severe botch jobs. Getting it all tidy behind the fusebox is a challenge especially when its been so disturbed in the past, but it do-able.
  21. As long as you get one from the same year and model, its pretty straight forward. You're best off removing the dash though as its easy to run everything with it out.
  22. Would have been easier to trace all wiring from the control module back, and removed it where its spliced in. They are generally fitted behind the glove box/passenger undertray, or behind the centre console. If you can see nothing around the fuse box area, check around there. Trouble is that if the car has been off the road for a while and not started, it could be an unrelated issue. Best off just checking and/or replacing as much of the wiring and looms as possible.
