  1. The rear bearing are pressed directly into the disks, so no hub. It's likely it would have trashed the stub axle though so may need to replace that. They are taper bearings too, so shouldn't be too tight as they expand with heat (when running) so would destroy themselves if over tightened. I overdid one a few years back but the bearing disintegrated resulting in a very wobbly wheel. Luckily I wasn't travelling very fast either. I destroyed the stub axle in the process too.
  2. Just looked through my receipts, I got mine from engineersmate.com Product code is 6203-2RS-SKF There is no price on the invoice, but think it was less than a fiver from memory.

    Barn find VR6

Its not bad tbh, although I think I can see a fair bit of rust around the arches, sills and also the doors.
  4. Yeah I replaced my bearing and belt not long after getting the car John. The bearing was less than a fiver and only a few quid for an auxilliary belt from GSF/ECP, so did that too. A little more effort than replacing the entire tensioner, but I like doing things the hard way! lol.
  5. Not sure tbh Jim, never known anyone attempt it. The element is sewn into a pad though, so doubt it'll be a simple job and I'm not sure what the element is made of either.
  6. Have a look in the wiki for the guide on replacing the bearing. Dead cheap and only a little effort required.

    Wow, a wash for just £750! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Corrado-VR6-1995-79k-2-owner-Full-VW-SH-/141903676962?hash=item210a1e4622:g:GvwAAOSwe7BWwHh4
  8. Quantum is 10w-40 Semi.................. Personally thats what I'd use to bed it in. Its cheap enough anyway, and running it in for 1k miles before another oil and filter change should be perfectly fine I reckon.
  9. Are these not symmetrical? Ie, fit both sides by just flipping them over? Heritage lists them for both sides, with the same part number as VAGCAT/Partsbase lists them for just the VR6 left side.
  10. Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear about your woes, but the 2.8 12v should be plentiful so easy to source, and a straight swap. The 2.8 24v from a mk4 GTI has been done quite a few times, and the R32 is can also be done with a little bit of effort. All you need to know here. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?20610-Definitive-24v-into-a-(VR)-Corrado-thread
  11. Better be quick, bargain! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Corrado-Floor-Mats-Set-VR6-16v-G60-Storm-/381545271268?hash=item58d5decfe4:g:thoAAOSwG-1Wv2Cq
  12. How is it? Gotta be worth £400!!!!!
  13. The list is long and distinguished. Like my Johnson...................
  14. The VR6 standard calipers are the exact same, so widens your search and you don't need to pay a premium because they're "G60"
  15. Wow, thats err, pretty shocking! Looks like it had been sat in a river for about a year!
  16. They probably just don't keep them in stock John. They get them from Classic Parts in Germany, and they have a delivery every 2-3 weeks. They'll just order one from there when required.
  17. Obsolete from VW but available from classic parts through VW Heritage at £185. About a 3 week wait too.
  18. Haha, fair enough mate! Good luck with finding the issue, fingers crossed its just a duff new ISV like mine.
  19. Yeah it was with the engine warm, but instead of idling at around 1050 rpm, as soon as the good one went in it was perfect at 650-700 rpm. Went straight back up to 1050 again as soon as I put mine back on. I'm gonna PM Thursdave on here now to see what he can do a new genuine one for.
  20. Sorry, just realised he meant the tb. If there is someone close by that is willing to,let you swap one in that would be a good start at least before forking out again.
  21. Yeah sorry John, bloody predictive text, it's meant to be isv. Is it the Bosch one you got from ECP that didn't make any difference? I'd take Ian up on that offer if I were you. A known good one will absolutely prove it at least.
  22. Massive thanks to 'harrier', just popped round his and he let me swap out the sub with his good one. Vagcom doesn't lie, it was.instantly better so the new cheap isv is rubbish. I'll return that one and get a new Bosch one. Think they're around the £250 Mark from VW so I'll try to source one elsewhere. May try Ford!
